Average western that is difficult to see. DVD review.
A young gunslinger gets married (by Judge Roy Bean) to a hooker that he rescues from a mob . He then tries to catch the notorious Billy Pimple with tragic results.
Starting off with a rattlesnake literally getting its head shot off (beat that Peckinpah!) this short Western is a very routine but interesting effort. Picture has an unusual TV-series look and is badly made but there's some interesting scenes: the rock/paper/scissors game; the tragic ending; the meeting of Jesse and Frank James who are accompanied by the (coward) Robert Ford; the "marriage"; and the bad guy Billy Pimple. I also liked the way that you didn't know what was going to happen with the story and the fact that it was under-directed.
A Time For Dying is a dated but interesting low-budget Western.
