An earlier off-Broadway version (English adaptation by Marc Blitzstein), because it was a special "showcase" production, had a large turnover among its cast members. At one point, however, it featured Bea Arthur as Lucy Brown, and Paul Dooley and John Astin as two of MacHeath's men. Bad acting, bad lighting, bad colouring, bad... well, everything really. I've given it a 1(out of a possible 10)only thanks to Sammy Davis Jr., but he alone couldn't save this film from being a total disaster. I really tried to get into the story, but the sound and picture being so out of sync almost threw me into a fit!
In conclusion: do _not_ watch this film, it's boring and no good!!!
