Frightened City is British mobster movie, and Herbert Lom plays a mastermind who is out to unite all the various elements of London's crime scene into one powerful machine. Sean Connery plays a low level mobster who is dragged into this whole mess as sort of a pawn, it seems. This is a little on the talky side but has plenty of interesting things to look at, including what seems to be a Tiki lounge and "exotic" dancers in grass skirts. The music is kind of fun and while I don't think in this case that it's The Shadows playing the theme song, they at least covered it sometime afterward. Lom plays a rather oily character and the mob bosses all seem a bit overplayed, but Connery is fine in his role as an "honest" mobster. Of course he has an interest in Lom's niece, but his long-time girlfriend seems to have issues with that, but she stands by him. Not exactly a top-notch film but not bad and fun to watch. 7 out of 10.
