The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

Scene of woman disrobing but only her upper back/neckline is shown. Scene of bathing woman with water distorting her nude figure. Several instances of characters making reference to sexual acts with female slaves (but in very tame/mild language). Implication of homosexual advances by Marcus to Antoninus.

A character in the movie is bisexual.

Violence & Gore

Man stabbed in bare back with blood squirting out into assailant's face. Battle scene with sword stabbing scenes (minimal blood seen). Clear scene of an arm cut off by a sword blow with blood gusher. A field covered with many dead bodies (including women and children) is shown. Several scenes with men hanging on crosses (crucified).

Profanity

Infrequent mild language is used.

Some alcohol is drunk.

An intense battle, plus numerous intense gladiatorial fights.

An intense and disturbing scene where Spartacus and Antoninus are forced to fight each other, with the knowledge that the winner will be crucified. -SPOILERS- Spartacus eventually kills Antoninus, and we later see him hanging on the cross.
