Trivia:
Arthur Miller revised the script so that more emphasis was given to his wife, Marilyn Monroe. Gregory Peck, originally cast opposite Monroe, left the project, unhappy about the way his role had been diminished. He said the script was "now about as funny as pushing grandma down the stairs in a wheelchair." In addition he did not want to work with Monroe after hearing about her reputation for being late every day. moreGoofs:

A tepid attempt to cash in on the waning popularity of Miss Monroe. The script is not funny, nor the costumes glamorous or the performances memorable. The entire production seems bogged down by its own weight of trying to be funny. More memorable for the affair off screen than the performances on, we only get a glimpse of creativity that comes through with "My Heart Belongs To Daddy." Marilyn, looking pasty and bloated performs this number in an old, loose fitting sweater. So much for her hourglass figure. Yves Montand showing that he has no funny bone in his body whatsoever, coupled with the non-existent chemistry of the two on the screen, one can only imagine the lack of sizzle off.
