The Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Film Festival (Flglff) is back for another five days of gay-friendly films, showcasing over two dozen movies from November 11th to the 15th.
Among the titles, all having their South Florida premieres, are holiday comedy "Make the Yuletide Gay," the Edgar Allen Poe-based thriller "House of Usher," and the sequel to hit gay franchise "Eating Out," "Eating Out 3: All You Can Eat."
On Friday the 13th, Gateway Cinema premieres "House of Usher," the latest Poe-adaptation from director David Decoteau, who also helmed the "Brotherhood" films. Also premiering the 13th at the Las Olas Riverfront Cinema is "Misconceptions," a comedy drama starring "Mad TV" album Orlando Jones.
Rebekah Kochan and Mink Stole return for thirds of "Eating Out" with the latest sequel, "Eating Out 3: All You Can Eat," which premieres Saturday, November 14th at Gateway Cinema.

Movies based on stories by Edgar Allan Poe are nothing new. Movies about the short life of the macabre writer are in shorter supply. One of Edgar Allan Poe's biggest fans is pushing to get a biopic about the famed writer into production. Because when you think Edgar Allan Poe you think... Sylvester Stallone?
Empire Online caught up with Sylvester Stallone to talk to him about his all-star action flick The Expendables opening next year, as well as the possible Death Wish remake he's considering starring in. One unexpected topic that came up was Stallone's passion to make a movie on the life and times on the writer of such classic horror tales and poems as "The Fall of the House of Usher", "The Tell-Tale Heart", "The Pit & the Pendulum", and "The Raven", just to name a few.

Fango got the scoop that Manhattan’s Film Society of Lincoln Center will present a third Scary Movies festival next month at the Walter Reade Theater (165 West 65th Street, upper level). It’s one of a trio of genre-centric showcases hitting New York-area revival houses in time for Halloween.
Scary Movies 3 hasn’t had exact dates confirmed yet, but we hear that among the movies to be presented on the Walter Reade’s big screen are Peter Jackson’s Dead Alive, Colin Eggleston’s original Aussie chiller Long Weekend and Jerzy Skolimowski’s odd and obscure 1978 film The Shout. Also part of the lineup will be a cult-classic 1980s film that, we’re told, was remade in the last few years (that really narrows it down!). Keep an eye on the Film Society website for more details to appear soon.

Green Knight Ventures will produce a contemporary adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's classic story "The Fall Of The House Of Usher"," says The Hollywood Reporter. Claire Forlani, Dougray Scott and Rufus Sewell will star in the film, which will be titled "The Ushers" and be shot in 3-D. Stephen Kay is attached to direct. Originally published in 1839, "Usher" tells of the mysterious goings-on in the house of Roderick Usher, who has recently buried a sister whose presence still haunts the house. "Ushers" will look at a grown brother and sister who have lived in the same Martha's Vineyard house for a long time but begin to feel trapped there, and who then bring in a real-estate broker to help them resolve their crisis. Edgar Allan Poe's classic tale The Fall Of The House Of Usher is getting the update treatment as The Ushers, courtesy of indie banner Green Knight Ventures. The cast has a very British look with Claire Forlani, Dougray Scott and Rufus Sewell are attached to appear in a modern-day updating of the classic Gothic short story.Poe's 1839 tale is set in the cobweb-shrouded ancestral home of the Roderick Usher, who is haunted by the lingering presence of his recently-buried sister. The Ushers will see the setting shift to modern-day Martha's Vineyard, where the Ushers are grown-up siblings who feel trapped by their long-time home and bring in a real-estate broker to help them resolve their situation.Stephen Kay, who directed Stallone's less-than-brilliant Get Carter remake, will helm from a script by Gian Marco Masoni.Poe's classic short story has already been treated to an almost-as-classic 1960 Roger Corman »

Some news out of the Cannes Film Festival this afternoon, as The Hollywood Reporter says indie production company Green Knight Ventures will soon begin lensing an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's The Fall Of The House Of Usher... in 3D.
Claire Forlani (Mallrats, Meet Joe Black), Dougray Scott (Dark Water, Hitman) and Rufus Sewell (Vinyan, Dark City) will star in the film titled The Ushers. Stephen Kay (Boogeyman) is attached to direct.
THR says:

Some time ago, while perusing the special features on my DVD re-issue of Mario Bava's Black Sabbath (contained in Anchor Bay's magnificent Bava Box Set Vol. 1) I was pleasantly surprised by the addition of an interview with an actor by the name of Mark Damon. See, I was a rather huge fan of , not only the Bava masterpiece (Damon starred as the young hero in the chilling Boris Karloff episode in Black Sabbath called The Wurdulak) but also of the legendary and groundbreaking 1960 Roger Corman / Poe/ Vincent Price creeper House Of Usher and perhaps even more relevantly, the 1973 soft core Eurotrash shocker The Devils Wedding Night.
