Factual errors: Despite this being a mathematics educational film, a character incorrectly recites the value of the mathematical constant pi. The character states, "Pi is equal to 3.141,592,653,589,747, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera." The correct value of pi (to the same number of digits) is actually 3.141,592,653,589,793. (The last two digits are different.) moreFAQ

I expected this to be a very simple educational cartoon aimed at children. Man, was I wrong. This short 28 minute long show goes way back, teaching us about the origins of mathematics as a science. It tells the viewer about some of the great mathematicians, and their philosophies. It even spends a fair amount of time telling us about the "golden rectangle", a term I had never even heard before.
I enjoyed this cartoon quite a lot. It is quite old, and is a good example of the types of mature work that Disney was producing back then. Today, people tend to think of Disney movies as being strictly for children. However, some of these older ones were certainly aimed equally at a mature audience.
