This delightful George Pal musical fantasy from 1958 is as much fun to view now as it was in those simpler days.Re-released in Britain in the late 60's on a double bill with "THE WIZARD OF OZ", "TOM THUMB" is the better movie and Tom's incredibly catchy " DOODY DOODY DOO" song is as memorable as any of the ditties in the Garland classic.Russ Tamblyn is nothing short of magnificent as Tom and his incredibly acrobatic and lively dance routines should have gained him an Oscar nomination. This man deserves to be right up there with Astaire and Kelly. The villains as portrayed by Terry-Thomas and Peter Sellers are as threatening as they are funny and the former at least never bettered his performance here.Alan Young was an unusual choice for the romantic lead but he too delivers a pleasing performance,as does everyone in this superlative treat for all ages.
