Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.
Visit our Parents Guide Help to learn more

Sex & Nudity

Several women lift their gowns as they flee from a room (it is implied earlier that they aren't wearing any undergarments) but no nudity is seen.

Violence & Gore

In a theatrical performance in the film, a character, some men and several dogs drown in a river.

The King nearly whips Tuptim. After Tuptim tries to escape with her lover, we learn that the lover has been killed, though it is never shown.

Profanity

None at all.

The King gives the English ambassadors cigars, but they are never smoked.

Wine is consumed at the banquet.

Possibly the scene in which Tuptim is nearly beaten with a whip.

The final scene with The King on his deathbed is somewhat heartbreaking.
