Michael Jackson has earned $90 million since he died.

The late 'Thriller' singer - who passed away from acute Propofol intoxication on June 25 - came third in Forbes.com's annual Top-Earning Dead Celebrities list with the huge financial haul.

Michael was the highest ranking deceased singer, after bringing in the enormous sum from radio play, royalties from album sales, rights to his name and royalties from his stake in the Sony/Atv music catalogue.

Since Michael's shock passing there have also been numerous sales of memorabilia, iconic outfits and even a lock of his hair.

Forbes Senior Editor Matthew Miller said: "The money might be drying up in Hollywood, but there's still plenty of cash being made in the graveyard. The earning power of dead celebrities is more powerful than ever before."

Elvis Presley dropped down from first position last year to fourth this time round with earnings of $55 million. »

Hugh Jackman's singin' and dancin' at the Oscars this year has seemed to pay off. According to Variety, Jackman has agreed to star in The Greatest Showman on Earth, a new musical about the life and rise to stardom of P.T. Barnum. The musical has been written by Jenny Bicks, who got her feet wet writing for "Sex and the City" and will be produced by the eclectic Laurence Mark (Dreamgirls, Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion, and I, Robot), Jackman and his (producing) partner John Palermo. That combination of Jackman, Dreamgirls, "Sex and the City," and contemporary musicals means one thing: I'll likely be dragged to see this. Hugh Jackman to star in The Greatest Showman on Earth

Hugh Jackman is more than just the handsome Australian actor who tears things to shreds as Wolverine in the X-Men movies. If you tuned into the Oscars earlier this year you know he also has a set of pipes. In his newest project The Greatest Showman on Earth he’ll be focusing on the latter of those talents, reports Variety.

Showman is an original contemporary musical that revolves around showman P.T. Barnum (Jackman) who is best remembered for his work developing the three-ring circus. Other elements of the story will focus on Barnum’s love interest, singer Jenny Lind (the role is being written with Anne Hathaway in mind).

Twentieth Century Fox has signed Hugh Jackman to play American showman P.T. Barnum in The Greatest Showman on Earth, an original contemporary musical to be scripted by Jenny Bicks (Sex and the City). According to the trades, Jackman will play the showman with a penchant for hoaxing a gullible public as he creates the three-ring circus that made him famous. The musical also focuses on his infatuation with singer Jenny Lind -- the so-called Swedish Nightingale. The film will be produced by Laurence Mark (Dreamgirls), Jackman and his Seed partner John Palermo. Hugh Jackman has appeared on-stage in a number of musicals, and recently sang-and-danced his way to one of the more memorable Oscar telecasts in history. Not surprisingly, he’s now attached to an original contemporary musical titled The Greatest Showman on Earth, in which he’ll play American showman P.T. Barnum, Variety reports.

Sex and the City scribe Jenny Bicks is working on the screenplay for Twentieth Century Fox. The film would have an original music score, and the studio is reportedly in talks with Mika, the London-based singer/songwriter, to do the musical honors.

Let's take a few minutes and clear the decks of superhero film news before we all get wrapped up in Star Trek coverage...

Yes, another Wolverine sequel is already in the works. According to Variety, the sequel will focus on the X-Men comic's samurai storyline, the Japanese locale setup for which is teased after this film's end credits. In the meantime, Hugh Jackman will be working with Anne Hathaway in the big screen adaptation of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical Carousel. Since Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals did very well for him when he was playing Curly in Oklahoma... a role that was later taken over by Patrick Wilson, who went on to play Nite Owl in Watchmen.

Yes, there's a Deadpool spinoff in the works at Fox. Ryan Reynolds is attached to come back for what for now is simply being called "Deadpool." Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel Studios would act as producers. »

According to Variety, Hugh Jackman and Seed Productions partner John Palermo are developing several projects for the X-Men Origins: Wolverine star, perhaps not surprising, given that Jackman's film clawed in close to $90M at the box office during its opening weekend.

First up, 20th Century Fox and Seed are in development on a sequel to Wolverine. The Seed partners have begun planning the sequel, in which they are squarely focusing on the samurai storyline originated in the comic series.

The trade reports that Fox has also just closed a deal to acquire Personal Security, a spec script by Matt Lieberman. Jackman will star as a tough New York police detective forced into bodyguard duty for a spoiled teen heiress who is receiving kidnapping threats.

While Jackman has not set his next star vehicle, he is revving up over Drive, a Seed-produced adaptation of the James Sallis novel set up at Universal. »

Last week Screen Rant reported on the fact that Hugh Jackman would like to see the Wolverine sequel involve the Japanese saga from the original comics. But at that point it was just the wishful, albeit informed, thinking of the Wolverine actor and not actual confirmation that that’s the direction a sequel would go.

Seed Productions, which is a company started by Jackman, Deborah-Lee Furnass and John Palermo (and is associated with 20th Century Fox), has started ramping up several projects for Jackman to star in. And, yes, one of which is the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Seed are planning to focus squarely on the Japanese storyline that Jackman wishfully spoke of last time he was interviewed about the sequel, which is set to continue on from the after-credits sequence [possible spoiler ahead] that saw Jackman in Japan, speaking the lingo. Earlier today, Empire reported that plans for a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine are already underway. The story will take place in Japan, with Wolverine learning the ways of the Samurai and falling in love with the daughter of a Yakuza family.

Empire also reported that Hugh Jackman has a slew of projects forthcoming. These include Drive, in which he'll play a race-car driver/getaway man; Personal Security, in which he'll play a thick-skinned detective serving as a bodyguard to a spoiled teenage girl; and Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical Carousel, in which he'll play the male lead, Billy Bigelow.

Wow, I guess Hugh Jackman really is the man right now. It may be a little to early to crown him king of Hollywood, but according to Variety, Jackman's about ready to star in pretty much anything. First of all, we found out yesterday that he is in talks to star in "Ghostopolis." Another project he will be boarding is a "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" sequel, which the trade says will center on the samurai story line from the comics.

But wait! Jackman's got more in store for you. He will also star in Fox's "Personal Security," which follows a detective who's ordered to play bodyguard for a spoiled teen heiress. It refers to both the song of that name and to the entire output of the man who composed it, Richard Rodgers. Hamlisch, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, and guest vocalists J.
