Fun Stuff

Trivia:
The name Bellinda is a fabrication. No ship ever sailed with the hull number of APA-22. The USS Joseph Hewes (AP-50) was designated for reclassification as APA-22 in early 1943, however she was lost in November of 1942 before the change occurred. As the numerical sequence of attack transport hull numbers had already been assigned, the number was not reissued. more
Goofs:
Revealing mistakes: When the boat rocks back and forth when the officer explains why the floors in the mess hall are waxed, there is an external shot that shows the boat and the ocean, the horizon moves with the boat. more

It's Better Every Time I Watch It, 18 February 2004
8/10

Away All Boats is a World War II movie about men at sea. The first time I watched it, I thought it was rather slow moving. I've now seen it 5 times, and it gets better every time. I catch something new each time I watch it. I'm looking forward to seeing it again. How did I miss so much the first time I saw it? I now love the pace of this movie and see that it is well suited to telling the story. The photography is great and sometimes even spectacular in Away All Boats. There are also some nice moments of humor in this movie. I recommend this one. 8/10.
