Own the rights?
In a dream ballet sequence, Laurey imagines that she accidentally enters a whorehouse. There is no sex or nudity, however, just some dance hall girls.There is discussion of a small kaleidoscope called "The Little Wonder". When a person looks through it, he/she sees suggestive pictures (which are never actually shown onscreen).Jud tries to force Laurey to kiss him at one point.Jud has a fondness for dirty postcards (which are never shown onscreen, although there is reference to a naked woman at one point).Ado Annie, a young woman who apparently can't resist any man, spends the night under a haystack with the peddler Ali Hakim (though this is not shown), prompting her father to demand that the peddler marry her. The peddler compares Annie to a Persian kitten because Persian kittens have "soft round tails".Just before the end, Annie and Will return with dopey smiles on their faces. Aunt Eller comments, "You missed all the excitement", to which Annie replies, "Oh no, we didn't."
The enraged Jud fires a pistol into the air in frustration.In the dream ballet, Laurey inagines Curly firing a pistol at the menacing Jud, but to no effect. Then she imagines that Jud grabs Curly, lifts him high in the air, and tries to strangle him.Jud nearly gets Curly to look into "The Little Wonder", which has a dagger concealed in it.Near the end of the film, Jud tries to kill Curly and Laurey by setting fire to the haystack on which they are standing. He then draws out a large knife and dares Curly to come after him. Laurey and Curly both jump safely off the burning haystack, but Curly lands on Jud and accidentally kills him when Jud falls on his own knife.
Ali Hakim gives Laurey a concoction he calls "The Elixir of Egypt", which is actually smelling salts. He tells her that it will help her decide between Curly and Jud. Later, Laurey sniffs it and falls asleep, and here the dream ballet begins.
