Fun Stuff

Quotes:
Colonel Morsby: We scattered them from Mexico to California. We broke their ranks, and they re-formed. We burnt their villages, and they lived in caves. They have a will to survive, a passion for life, that shames any white man's. It never dies. Nothing destroys the Apache but death. more

Battle of wills at a stage depot, 25 July 2003
4/10
Author: cowboy7642 from Alexandria, VA

A sheriff aiming to return a fugitive bank robber to town for trial gets trapped at a stagecoach station where an Indian-hating army colonel wants to return the Indians to their reservation or kill those who refuse to obey. The real tension in the story is about the marital problems between a married couple who own the depot and the wife's desire to run away with another man. The besieged members at the depot manage to capture a wounded chief and exchange rifle shots with Apache fire arrows. The film is really a stand-off between the whites and the Apaches with the trapped soldiers trying to dictate terms of surrender to the Indians. Nearly the entire film is set inside the depot and follows the familiar plot of soldiers forcing Indians to return to their reservations of face punitive measures from the military.
