If you're a Lana fan like me, you'll like this film. It showcases Lana at her loveliest, and while it may seem silly at times, it still provides solid entertainment for little over an hour and a half. Jean Hagen (the high-pitched voice in Singin' in the Rain) is good in a supporting role. But, John Lund's can get a bit tiresome with him being so stiff. And, Louis Calhern is good as Ricardo's grandfather, providing a touch of class.
(A side note that many may not know: Not only was Louis Calhern also in Lana's "A Life of Her Own," but, in "The Bad and the Beautiful," he provides the voice of her father's on the record that Kirk Douglas smashes.)
The chemistry between Ricardo and Lana is really what makes the movie, even though this was supposed to be a reunion movie with Fernando Lamas. They made "The Merry Widow" prior to this.) But since they were no longer together as a couple, she wanted someone else to play opposite her. And, it looks like it turned out pretty well. Ricardo seems to be enjoying himself. He once said Lana Turner exuded sex. So, with them complementing each other and having a ball, it certainly makes for one of her most enjoyable frolics.
