Muscles steals the show, 2 July 2007
8/10
Author: Atreyu_II from The world of artists

This is one of the great Tom & Jerry's shorts. It can easily be classified as one of Tom & Jerry's most violent shorts, but it isn't much more violent than what we are used to.

Jerry Mouse is constantly having serious problems with Tom. In despair, he calls his cousin Muscles to help him.

Muscles is very strong, brutal and threatening. Although he looks just like Jerry, Muscles has the right name for him.

While Jerry looks innocent, harmless and cute, Muscles's yellow and black suit with a bowler hat gives him a respectful and powerful appearance, something like a Karate mouse. Not to mention that his serious facial expressions, his athletic attitude and posture and his vigorous voice complete his strong presence.

It's hilarious when Jerry is all nervous and looks everywhere, while Muscles says «Relax, cousin. Nothing is going to happen» and just as he is saying this, Tom trows a bowling ball to Muscles.

Other hilarious sequences are when Muscles whistles to Tom and he kisses his feet. And then Jerry dresses a suit just like Muscles's and whistles to Tom. However, Tom thinks that Jerry is Muscles and kisses his feet over and over. That is so funny! Muscles is very well voiced by Paul Frees.

"Jerry's Cousin" is a great and delightful cartoon for any fan of Tom & Jerry.
