The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’s cast will include Jack Huston as Royce King, II. Huston joins a growing line-up of Twilight series newcomers for the third film, including Xavier Samuel, Bryce Dallas Howard, and the one and only Jodelle Ferland. Huston is a relatively new actor, with about five years of experience, but he is of blue blood in Hollywood, and has already made a name for himself amongst the greats. Screenwriter Brian King makes a valiant effort to bring a classic noir flavor to his moody directorial debut, but ultimately Night Train fails to deliver a second coming of Sam Spade and The Maltese Falcon and comes off feeling like a by-the-numbers retread of A Simple Plan mixed with a not-so-memorable episode of The Twilight Zone.

That's not to say there isn't also a lot to like here. King's screenplay may not be terribly original, but it is at least a cinephile's wet dream - full of references to past characters and film noir flicks. The ensemble cast of Danny Glover, Leelee Sobieski, and Steve Zahn is also uniformly strong considering their paper-thin characters and I liked how the sets evoke a timeless feeling where you're never quite sure what era you're in. »

When Films Fall Victim To Bad Timing

Motion pictures are years or even decades in the making. As much as we like to ascribe credit to directors who manage to capture the zeitgeist -- like when Sam Raimi uses a put-upon mortgage broker as the heroine of his new movie right in the middle of an economic crisis fueled by the collapse of the housing market -- the truth is, more often than not, a movie's cultural relevancy is a matter of luck and timing. In the case of "Drag Me To Hell," Raimi's film was eerily prescient, but just as often the opposite turns out to be the case.
