Fritz Lang directs the World War II resistance thriller Hangmen Also Die (1943) with Brian Donlevy, Henry Fonda stars in The Long Night (1947), the remake of the French poetic realist drama Le Jour se leve by Anatole Litvak, Anthony Mann directs the low-budget Railroaded (1947), a marvelously tawdry thriller starring John Ireland as a cop-killing thug, Budd Boetticher directs Behind Locked Doors (1948), a B-movie thriller starring Richard Carlson as a reporter undercover in a mental hospital to find a wanted man in hiding, and Joan Crawford stars in the Oscar nominated Sudden Fear (1952) as a target in a murder plot by seductive Jack Palance and his scheming lover Gloria Grahame.
