I grew up watching the Stooges after school back when there were only a few TV Channels and no Cable TV. Now trying to get anyone to watch black and white is impossible, and that is a shame. The Three Stooges were great, not just because they were funny, but because they really worked hard to succeed in spite of Hollywood. They were Independants, and they were never accepted by Hollywood. Their humor was working class, and while it was often crude, it was all from the heart! It is too bad that intellectual snobs turn up their noses at the mention of The Three Stooges as great comedians.

This short combines the best of Stoogedom. It has the scary Gorilla, the Haunted House sub-plot, the sinister criminals, and the corrupt politician. When you consider the whole story, it really has a lot in it besides merely slapstick comedy. The story is fast-paced, and full of action. Often the best Stooge shorts combine all of their standard gags with fast-paced action, and for twenty minutes you escape into their amazing world of comedy. This Stooge short is not one of their all-time greatest (there are so many to choose from!), but it is definitely an A+ effort.
