Our original observation in Thursday's edition about German reaction to films about the Hitler era became mangled in the editing process. We had initially written: "Classic Hollywood films about the Hitler era, including Chaplin's The Great Dictator, Frank Borzage's The Mortal Storm, and Ernst Lubitch's To Be or Not to Be, all made shortly before the U.S. entered World War II, were originally banned in Germany and, even after the war, received virtually no distribution in that country."
