This is a simple, but charming tale of small-town life. The whole town is against Judge Hardy, and he must prove he's right. A lot of the action centers around Joan Hardy, a sister of Andy's. Joan has to move back home after separating from her husband. Her character was dropped after this film, leaving just Marian and Andy. Marian Hardy has love troubles in this movie, as always, but they seem a little more sappy in this movie than they are in later installments. Mickey Rooney isn't featured as much in this first Hardy film as he is in later ones. Charming little story.
