Trivia:
Many of the backgrounds for this and other early Popeye cartoons were 3D. The backgrounds were built on a large circular stage that was rotated in front of the camera. The characters were then superimposed over this three-dimensional background. more
Goofs:
Audio/visual unsynchronized: After Sindbad sings to Popeye the line "Who's the most remarkable, extraordinary fellow?", the animals respond "You!", and you can then see some of them mouthing "Sindbad the Sailor", but that line is not heard. This happens again on the very next verse. more

Popeye: That was a nice ship we had once. more

Even after 65 years, this is an exceptional piece of work, 19 September 2001
10/10

This cartoon is visually astounding even after 65 years. Longer than the typical Popeye being done at the time (by quite a bit), it justifiably received a great deal of fanfare and notice on its release and is considered one of the finest animated shorts ever made by a great many people (including me). This runs on Cartoon Network occasionally and is well worth getting a look at. I believe it has at least once or twice been available on VHS. Most highly recommended.
