Box set of 5 films from the great American director John Ford, all new to DVD and exclusive to this set. Victor McLaglen leads The Lost Patrol (1934) in the intense thriller of a platoon adrift in the African desert and surrounded by unseen snipers. Ford won his first Oscar for Best director and led Victor McLaglen to a Best Actor statuette for The Informer (1935), a drama set in the political strife of 1922 Dublin. Ford turns to the costume drama for Mary Of Scotland (1936), an adaptation of the Maxwell Anderson play starring Katharine Hepburn as the headstrong queen and co-starring Fredric March and John Carradine. Woody Strode plays Sergeant Rutledge (1960) in the cavalry drama about a black Buffalo Soldier on trial for rape and murder, and Jeffrey Hunter is the officer who defends him in military court and struggles to reveal the truth. Cheyenne Autumn (1964) is the last western from the American poet, an epic about the Cheyenne Nation's tragic 1,500 mile march over treacherous desert to return to their homeland in Yellowstone. Richard Widmark, Carroll Baker, Karl Malden, Sal Mineo, Dolores Del Rio, Ricardo Montalban, Gilbert Roland and Arthur Kennedy star, with appearances by James Stewart and Edward G. Robinson.
