Radio Spirits, Inc., a syndicator of old-time radio shows, has teamed up with the American Movie Classics channel to market audiocassette versions of motion pictures that originally aired on CBS's Lux Radio Theater in the 1940s and '50s. The programs, produced by the J. Walter Thompson Co. (the advertising agency for Lux soap), were originally hosted by pioneer director Cecil B. DeMille. (DeMille was later dropped from the program following a dispute with the American Federation of Radio Artists and CBS over "union shop" rules.) Packaged as "AMC's Audio Movies To Go, " the initial offerings include Clark Gable starring in Farewell to Arms, A (1932) (Gary Cooper starred in the actual film), and The Treasure of Sierra Madre with Humphrey Bogart recreating his role in the movie. »
