Trivia:

Is actually *not* the first synchronized sound cartoon. Walt Disney's rival Max Fleischer had produced a series of sound Bouncing Ball "Song Car-Tunes", which featured synchronized dialogue and music starting in 1924, the first of which to be released was Come Take a Trip in My Airship (1924). The first to actually be produced was My Old Kentucky Home (1926), but that was not was released until June 1926.

Goofs:

Continuity: At the Podunk Landing site, the cow's tag around her neck disappears for a second when she moos and is back again.

Animation has come a long way...

This is not, as a number of others have said, Mickey Mouse's first cartoon. It was actually his third. This was his first -sound- cartoon. In any case it's still an important landmark in animation. This is fun to look at if only for nostalgia and to see how far the medium has come since this short was made in 1928. There really isn't a story to speak of but there are a few laughs. Worth seeing if you are a fan of Disney, Mickey, or just animation in general.
