Not Super-hooper heterodyned, 28 October 2007
Author: boblipton from New York City

Mack Sennett was promoting Bevan and Clyde as a screen pair from the period of about 1925-1930 in a total of close to 30 shorts. But although these two are arguably the best actors to come out of Sennett's studio in this period -- Bevan had a pretty good career in the talkies as a second-screen-credited actor and Andy Clyde had a long run at Columbia in their second-longest running shorts series, ending up with a fat role in the TV series THE REAL MCCOYS, they never did the great work they would do later for Sennett, producing many decent, although not outstanding comedies in the standard Sennett mold -- their best-known collaboration is probably SUPER-HOOPER-HETERODYNED LIZZIES, which is best known for its special effects and Capra's hand in the writing.

But the two of them shifted character too much to establish any real chemistry. Here, they're in the standard 'boys want to go out and the wives don't' formula. All very nicely done, but nothing special.
