Jolie & Pitt Donate to Namibian Hospitals

New parents Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have marked the birth of their first biological child, by donating $300,000 to local hospitals in Namibia. Jolie gave birth to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt at The Cottage Hospital in Swakopmund, Namibia, on Saturday. The couple have given the large sum to two state-run hospitals, and also made a second donation of $15,000 for a school and community centre in the town. A statement from the Hollywood pair reads, "We want to contribute to Namibia and the people who have been so gracious to us at this time." Jolie and Pitt have been dating since last year and the actor has since become the adoptive father of the movie beauty's adopted children Maddox and Zahara Marley.

'Syriana' Filmmakers Deny Plagiarism

The filmmakers behind George Clooney's Oscar-winning movie Syriana denied the script plagiarized work by screenwriter Stephanie Vergniault in a Paris, France court on Monday. Vergniault claims the oil thriller, written and directed by Stephen Gaghan, is based on her script Oversight, which she wrote between 1997 and 2002. Clooney picked up an Academy Award for his supporting role in the film, which he also produced. In her lawsuit against Warner Bros studios and Clooney's production company Section Eight, Vergniault is seeking two million euros ($2.55 million) and 35 percent of box office receipts. Warner Bros and Section Eight lawyer Patrick Dunaud said yesterday, "The two works bear strictly no resemblance with each other." Writer/director Gaghan says he wrote the script after being inspired by former CIA agent Robert Baer's memoirs. In court, Vergniault's lawyer Jasna Stark argued, "Writing Syriana demanded direct field experience. It's necessary to be a specialist of the matter to conceive a plot like that. Gaghan has no experience whatsoever of distribution and commercialization of oil, and of the geopolitical context." The case outcome will be decided on June 19.

Miller & Law "Working Things Out"

On/off couple Sienna Miller and Jude Law have confirmed rumors they are giving their relationship a third attempt. The pair ended their seven-month engagement in July 2005 after the Road To Perdition hunk admitted he had slept with his childrens' former nanny Daisy Wright the previous March. The Alfie co-stars reconciled in October, but split again in January. Miller has since been seen with her Factory Girl co-star Hayden Christensen and Argentine model Nico Malleville, while Law was linked to Australian singer/actress Sophie Monk. When asked by the Associated Press if she had reconciled with Law, Miller says, "Well, it's pretty obvious, isn't it? We're working things out."

Lohan Dismisses Simpson Feud

Lindsay Lohan has blasted tabloid rumors she's feuding with Jessica Simpson following a row at a party that left the pop star in tears. Lohan insists the story is far from true and she's actually one of Simpson's biggest supporters as she struggles through her divorce from Nick Lachey. The Mean Girls star reportedly snapped when Simpson refused to thank her for sending a tray of drinks over to her table at a recent Hollywood soiree. But she tells Interview magazine, "I did not go into this industry to be shown on the cover of some magazine fighting with Jessica Simpson, who I think is a sweet girl. She's going through a divorce, and it's hard enough for her. They (tabloids) basically said I was verbally harassing this girl. I'm not that person."

Spacey Boosted by Negative Press

Kevin Spacey is unmoved by criticism of his management of London theatre the Old Vic, insisting all publicity is good publicity. The actor's reign as artistic director of the historic venue was questioned when the last production closed early and the theatre was closed for the entire summer. Spacey insists he still enjoys the job and plans to use the publicity the theatre is getting to draw more and more people in. He tells the New York Times, "The fact of the matter is that we are getting an enormous amount of attention. Whether that's positive or not, people are talking about the Old Vic Theatre again with passion and commitment and controversy and debate. I'm having the time of my life. I love the people who work at this place, and the irony is that instead of all this attention having an undermining or a negative effect, it's galvanizing us. There must be an impression that somehow this stuff bothers me, but they're selling newspapers, and I'm selling theatre seats. In no way, shape or form am I in any way less than delighted, less than thrilled, to go to work on behalf of the Old Vic Theatre."

Smith Advised Willis On Family Life

Action star Bruce Willis has pal Will Smith to thank for his happy family life, after the Men In Black star gave him good advice when he was going through his divorce from actress Demi Moore. Smith was divorced and managed to successfully blend his families after marrying Jada Pinkett Smith and advised Willis on how to manage the ordeal. Willis has three children with Moore, who is now remarried to Ashton Kutcher, and the extended family spends lots of time together thanks to Smith's wise words. Willis explains, "We couldn't be happier. Holidays - we just laugh the whole time. Everybody's together. We did something at the time that seemed like a small decision, but now it's a huge thing and we get a lot of compliments on it - we put the kids first. It's hard to do. It's hard to set aside anger and resentment, but if you can do it and put the kids first it's just great. I have to thank Will Smith for that, he gave me that advice."

Jackson Visits Tokyo Orphans

Michael Jackson visited an orphanage in Tokyo, Japan, on Sunday as part of his first public appearances since being acquitted of child molestation charges last year. Jackson had jetted to Japan to collect MTV Japan's Legend Award on Saturday, and was keen to make the most of his time in the capital. The Bad hitmaker was thrilled to meet more than 160 orphaned kids between the ages of three and 18 at the children's home in downtown Tokyo. The 47-year-old singer was greeted by crowds of cheering fans outside the orphanage, and he shouted "I love you" in both English and Japanese, with the help of his translator, before going in to meet the kids. Jackson has been living a reclusive life in Middle Eastern country Bahrain with his family since his trial ended last year.

Set Designer Bumstead Dies

Oscar-winning set designer Henry Bumstead, who collaborated with Clint Eastwood on 13 movies, has died at the age of 91. Hollywood veteran Bumstead, who worked on over 100 films, won Academy Awards for production design on To Kill A Mockingbird and The Sting. In a career that spanned nearly 70 years, he was also an Oscar nominee for Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo and Eastwood's Unforgiven. Bumstead was diagnosed with prostate cancer during the filming of Eastwood's 2004 Oscar winner Million Dollar Baby. The disease was reportedly the cause of his death. Eastwood told The Los Angeles Times, "(He was) one of a kind. He seamlessly bridged the gap between what I saw on the page and what I saw through the camera lens. He is a legend in his field and a cherished friend. We will all miss him terribly."

Principal's Husband Hits Back at Security Story

Former Dallas star Victoria Principal's estranged husband has attacked the actress for making him look like a monster after filing for divorce. Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Harry Glassman has gone public with his feelings about the end of his 21-year marriage after learning that Principal has reportedly hired 24-hour security to keep him away from her. He say his wife is hoping for sympathy by making him out to be violent, claiming she is simply trying to remind people of a 2002 incident when Glassman was arrested and briefly jailed after a domestic dispute at their Los Angeles home. In a statement, Glassman says, "I am saddened that Victoria is using the incident of my arrest in 2002 in an effort to gain leverage in our divorce proceedings. I have never physically abused my wife. My arrest was a consequence of her abuse of alcohol that resulted in her detention in the Cedars Sinai ER for psychiatric evaluation. My being taken into custody was police error, no charges were ever filed, and the arrest has been expunged from my record. Her current round-the-clock protection is a dramatic attempt to portray me in a negative light and is not based in reality. Victoria is not, nor has she ever been, in any danger because of me." The 60-year-old actress filed divorce papers on Tuesday, citing "irreconcilable differences."

Bullock's Husband Hurt in Racing Crash

Sandra Bullock's daredevil husband Jesse James is recovering after a smash at an Outlaw Figure 8 racing meeting last weekend. The TV mechanic didn't let the accident stop his fun - he got back in his car and finished second. He says, "I got tagged and broke my shoulder blade and cracked two ribs."
