'Brokeback Mountain' Receives GLAAD Honor

Golden Globe-winning movie Brokeback Mountain was named last year's Best Motion Picture at the 17th annual Gay And Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Awards in New York City Monday night. Oscar-winning director Ang Lee received a standing ovation when he took to the stage to accept the award on behalf of everyone who worked on the heart-breaking tale of a secret love affair between two cowboys. He told the audience, "Finally, an award that actually means something. (It will probably be) the very last award I will accept for Brokeback Mountain. And to end the journey here tonight is like coming home. The fact is Brokeback Mountain has helped to change the world." GLAAD was formed in New York City in 1985 in response to biased AIDS coverage by tabloid newspapers and news stations.

Jessica Simpson is taking adoption plans so seriously she has hatched a plan to actually buy a Mexican orphanage.
The pop star has been talking about her adoption hopes for months, revealing she almost took home a little boy when she visited the Casa Hogar Elim orphanage in Mexico City when she was a teenager in 1999.
And now her dreams are taking shape - her publicist Rob Shuter confirms the singer and her family are looking to take over an orphanage.

'The View' Co-Hosts in Phone Fight

American TV presenter Star Jones called her The View co-host Joy Behar "a b***h" live on air yesterday after Behar told Jones to stop talking about her recent breast life operation. Jones called the show yesterday to address rumors she was near death after receiving a blood transfusion following breast enhancement surgery in Los Angeles. Behar appeared to grow increasingly irritated as Jones kept going on and on about her surgery. She then grabbed a pen and furiously scribbled a note, gesturing to co-host Meredith Vieira to read what she had written, tapping on the paper for emphasis. After Jones remarked, "Last Friday was my 44th birthday, but my boobs still think they're 20", Behar decided she had heard enough, snapping, "Ok, Star. That's enough about you. On to us. Bye!" TV censors bleeped out Behar when she added, "Keep your (breasts) perky!" in a mock-cheerful voice. Jones shot back, "I'm glad to see you haven't changed. Even today, you are still a b***h." Producers abruptly ended the call before the fight could escalate. A spokesman for the show tells the New York Post, "If you watch The View regularly, Star and Joy enjoy teasing each other. No harm done. There's not reason to read any more into it than what was on-air."
Spurlock Apologizes for School Speech

Documentary maker Morgan Spurlock has apologized to an American high school after stunning students and teachers with a foul-mouthed politically incorrect speech. During a lecture last week at Hatboro-Horsham High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the Super Size Me star joked about the intelligence of McDonald's employees and teachers smoking marijuana. The speech was cut short and another planned in the town later that day was cancelled. Spurlock has now posted an apology on his website: "It is never my intent to insult or demean anyone - and I understand how some of my remarks may have offended some in attendance and if you feel they did, then I am deeply sorry." Spurlock also tells a local newspaper he hadn't thought of the audience when planning his talk and could have chosen his words better. But he denies claims in an initial report that he had mocked "retarded kids in the back wearing helmets," insisting, "Having done work with special needs children in the past, something this hurtful would never come from my lips."
Blake Lawyers Want New Trial Over Jury "Misconduct"
Robert Blake's lawyers yesterday asked for a new trial, alleging jury misconduct in last year's civil court case which found the actor "intentionally caused" the death of his wife. In a new motion filed in Los Angeles, the Baretta star's defense team claim one juror failed to disclose that her daughter was in prison for murder, while others disregarded instructions from the judge. It is also alleged that the jury found Blake liable for the 2001 death of his wife Bonnie Lee Bakley in order to send a message to celebrities. The jury also discussed details relating to Blake's criminal trial in March 2005, in which he was acquitted of murdering Bakley, which the lawyers claim had no relevance to his civil trial. In November, a civil court ordered to Blake to pay $30 million in damages to Bakley's children. He then filed for bankruptcy.
Hawke's Office Destroyed by Fire
Training Day star Ethan Hawke's personal business office in New York was destroyed by a fast-moving fire on Sunday morning . The actor is currently directing and starring in a movie version of his first novel, The Hottest State. The fire broke out in a newly renovated office on the second floor of Hawke's office building and the blaze quickly spread all the way up to the fifth floor. As the fire worked its way up, it ripped through and completely destroyed Hawke's fourth-floor office and his post-production studio. Master tapes and negatives from Hawke's film, which also stars Michelle Williams and Laura Linney, were being stored off-site and were reportedly not destroyed by the fire.
Britney's Bodyguards Sue

Three of Britney Spears' former bodyguards are suing the pop superstar for overtime pay. Minders Lonnie and Randy Jones and Silas Dukes were dismissed by Spears late last year and claim they were not paid in full for their services. They claim they worked long hours and never received overtime pay, according to court documents, obtained by entertainment news website TMZ.com. The lawsuit, filed yesterday in Los Angeles Superior Court, claims the guards worked between 12 and 16 hours a day and were often on call 24 hours a day, but never got anything but a straight salary. The suit asks for compensation for unpaid wages and benefits, as well as penalties.
Judge Demands Papers in Jackson Custody Battle

Superstar Michael Jackson and his ex-wife Debbie Rowe have been ordered to hand over missing documents from their 1999 divorce file. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Robert Schinder demanded Rowe's lawyer Marta Almli submit duplicate copies of the former nurse's 2001 motion to terminate her parental rights to the couple's two children Prince Michael I and Paris Michael. The Thriller hitmaker's attorneys Michael Abrams and Thomas Hall have also been asked to hand over a copy of the singer's opposition to the motion. Jackson and Rowe married in November 1996, but divorced in October 1999, a year after Rowe gave birth to their daughter Paris. A private judge oversaw their divorce and two years later, a trial judge issued an order terminating Rowe's parental rights. Rowe is seeking to regain custody of the children following Jackson's high-profile child molestation trial last year and his alleged association with the Nation Of Islam. Jewish Rowe has reportedly expressed concern of her children mixing with the Nation Of Islam, because she believes they do not like Jewish people. The couple have been given 30 days to submit the documents. A hearing has been scheduled for May 24.
