Halle Berry In Serious Accident

Halle Berry narrowly escaped serious injury when a piece of shrapnel hit her in the eye during the filming of the new James Bond flick. The Oscar-winning star was filming a scene in which Pierce Brosnan shoots down a helicopter flown by Rick Yune, who plays baddie Xao, when the accident happened. During a series of explosions a piece of debris from a smoke grenade flew into the 33-year-old actress' left eye and she was rushed to hospital by aides. A source told British tabloid newspaper The Mirror, "The fragment was removed from Halle's eye during a half hour operation. She now has a very inflamed cornea which has left her with a bright red eye. Halle was given Sunday off and left the clinic with various creams and lotions to soothe her eye. It looks really painful, but she was so professional about the whole incident. She didn't make a fuss at all. Her husband Eric Benét flew out with her from London and is looking after her." Dr. Antonio Fernandez, who treated the actress, says, "It could have been much more serious. She had been quite lucky in fact." Studio Mgm also says that many news reports have made it sound much more serious than it was. The star is now back at filming in Cadiz, Spain.

Caviezel Refused To Get Naked With Ashley Judd

Staunchly Catholic Hollywood actor Jim Caviezel refused to strip off for a sex scene with beautiful actress Ashley Judd. The 33-year-old star threatened to walk out unless director Carl Franklin shot the scene for thriller High Crimes with both parties wearing clothes. He says, "I told Carl, 'It's no problem, I don't have to do this movie. Go ahead and find someone else.' I see our culture as not respecting people too much, treating people like objects. There are times where sex is appropriate, but I've yet to see butts and breasts act themselves out of a scene!" It's not the first time Caviezel has refused to get naked for scenes with beautiful co-stars. He refused to film a love scene with sexy Jennifer Lopez in Angel Eyes because she was topless and asked rising star Dagmara Domincyzk to cover her nipples while shooting The Count Of Monte Cristo. The married star says, "My acting stems from inside, from God. And that's the only way I can act. If I violate that, then I don't think I'd be around this business much longer."

The Rock's Parental Concerns

Wrestling hero-turned-movie star Dwayne Johnson (a.k.a. The Rock) is worried he'll become an overbearing dad when his daughter hits her teens. The muscled wrestling star insists he'll try and be as reasonable as possible when his seven-month-old daughter Simone starts dating, but he fears he'll terrorize her boyfriends. He says, "I'll try to be very cordial and shake hands with them when they come in, but I'll have my Scorpion King sword out, and just so they don't forget I'll have my wrestling boots in the corner. I think about all that and I cringe because I know how I was at 14, going over to girls' houses. I'm lucky I'm still alive, with all the dads I met."

Will's Son Is Hilfiger Model

Will Smith's son Trey has been signed up to star in designer Tommy Hilfiger's new TV ads. The nine-year-old will be seen posing in Hilfiger's upcoming ads - and he's already following in his workaholic dad's footsteps. Trey has a role in dad's Men In Black sequel, and plans to work as much as possible. He says, "I'm the Play Trey at home, and at work I'm the Work Trey. I actually prefer being the Work Trey." Trey caught the acting bug from starring in home movies, in which he plays the hero and his dad plays the villain.

Fishburne's Lucky Escape

Laurence Fishburne might have ended up as a street corner hoodlum if he hadn't landed his breakthrough role in Vietnam epic Apocalypse Now. Fishburne made his acting debut as a fresh-faced 17-year-old in the cinematic classic and says it probably saved him from a life of crime. He says, "I don't know what would've happened for me had I not done that movie, but certainly there would have been opportunities for me to get into trouble. Like there are for any inner-city youth, I suppose. I don't know if I would've gotten into serious trouble, but the possibility was there. There's no telling what could've happened. I could've wound up on a street corner for 30 years." The actor is proud of his contribution to movie history, but sometimes wishes people would remember his numerous other roles. He says, "I am the guy who was in Apocalypse Now. I'll never be able to change that. I wouldn't want to change that. But, you know, my career is quite long now, so I don't want to be seen purely for that one film."

Diaz Flick Chops Men Down To Size

Movie stunner Cameron Diaz was disappointed when producers cut a humorous song about men's sexual organs from her new movie. The blonde beauty's latest flick The Sweetest Thing was meant to be even naughtier than the version fans will see in the cinema. Cameron explains, "There was The Penis Song. I'm sure it'll be on the DVD. It's all in fun, but men just have a problem with women singing about their penises. I don't think the men at a test screening realized we came to praise the penis and not make fun of it. They were a little intimidated by the song, so we cut it."

Iman: No Designer Baby For Me

David Bowie and beautiful model wife Iman are refusing to follow stars like Madonna and Elizabeth Hurley by packing their toddler into ridiculous designer babywear. Madonna's daughter Lourdes wears Burberry, while Hurley is set to dress her newborn Damian in Christian Dior. But Somali-born Iman says she and Bowie will not be following suit with 19-month-old Alexandria Zahra. She says, "My baby will be as average as I can possibly make her. Old Navy and Gap. She's already privileged. She has a lot more than a lot of other people. I mean, what's this bull about a baby wearing Burberry?" Alexandria will apparently only be allowed designer outfits when she can pay for them herself.

Oprah Closes Book Club

Oprah Winfrey is scrapping her popular book club - because it's too hard to find enough good novels to plug. For six years, Winfrey has singled out her favorite new books and oldies each month on her TV show and lavished them with praise, causing their sales to go through the roof. Her picks turned unknowns into literary millionaires and won accolades from publishers for boosting reading among the masses. But she has now stunned the book world by announcing that she's pulling the plug on her monthly club. She says in a statement, "It has become harder and harder to find books on a monthly basis that I feel absolutely compelled to share. I will continue featuring books on the Oprah Winfrey Show when I feel they merit my heartfelt recommendation." Winfrey's decision came five months after Jonathan Franzen, the author of top-selling The Corrections, insulted her and refused to have the Oprah's Book Club stamp of approval. Winfrey retaliated by cancelling his invitation to her TV show, but he won the National Book Award for fiction in 2001 anyway and has stayed on bestseller lists for 29 weeks.

Izzard Out Runs Matt

Eddie Izzard showed Friends hunk Matt LeBlanc a clean pair of heels on the set of new movie All The Queen's Men - by beating him in a running race. The two became unlikely pals on the set of the movie and went jogging together at the start of every day. British comic Izzard says, "We were in Hungary and we were running and we got into this childish thing as if we were about six, and we had to be the fastest - and I beat him."

Sarah Jessica Parker's Mother Shares Baby Joy

The mother of pregnant Sex And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker is excitedly preparing for life as a grandmother. Barbara Forste, 64, who founded and operates a nursery school near her home in new Jersey, says her family is thrilled by the unexpected pregnancy. She enthuses, "It's really incredible. I can't wait to become a grandmother! It's wonderful; the best thing that's ever happened to our family. We're so excited." HBO, the network which produces Sex And The City, is suspending production until it decides what to do with Parker's popular character, Carrie Bradshaw. The show's fifth season was supposed to begin in June. Parker's baby with husband Matthew Broderick is due in the fall.
