'Lie to Me' first look: Felicia Day revisits 'Dr. Horrible' triumph
6 hours ago
Members of the Cult of Felicia Day now have even more reason to tune into Lie to Me on Monday: The Queen of all things nerdtastic and awesome not only acts, but sings!
In the episode — the drama's fall finale — Day guests as a teacher who brings her class to the Lightman Group on a field trip, only to get stranded there when a disgruntled farmer threatens to blow up DC. In an effort to entertain/distract the little kiddies, Day's character performs a duet with Loker (Brendan Hines).
The end result has iTunes smash written all over it. At the very least,

Scoop: 'Glee' courting Idina Menzel!
9 December 2009 1:03 PM, PST
Brace yourselves, theatre buffs! Following in the footsteps of Kristin Chenoweth and Jonathan Groff, Tony winner Idina Menzel is in advanced talks to join the cast of Glee!
But — and yes, there is a but — she won't be playing Rachel's mother, as we all assumed. If the deal goes through, she'll be playing the choir director for New Directions' rivals, Vocal Adrenaline.
So how psyched are you? And how hard are you suddenly hoping that Chenoweth will return as April in an episode that would allow her to team up once again with her former Wicked castmate? Let the cheering commence below.

'House' exclusive: Hugh Laurie's biggest episode Ever
9 December 2009 10:32 AM, PST
His name is Hugh Laurie. And he's a workaholic.
House's leading man and producer will add to his already sizeable workload when he steps behind the cameras to direct this season's 17th episode, slated to shoot in January and air March 22. "He starts prep when we get back ," reveals exec producer Katie Jacobs.
This isn't Laurie's first time in the director's chair — he previously helmed the British dramedy Fortysomething in which he also starred — but this marks his first time calling the shots on House. "Hugh has been there since day one through every single episode, so he's phenomenally smart

Breaking: 'True Blood' promotes vampire Pam!
8 December 2009 4:15 PM, PST
If you (like me) have been thirsting for a stronger dose of vampire Pam on True Blood, you are in luck: Kristin Bauer will appear as a full-fledged series regular in season 3, an HBO rep confirms.
Eric's lesbian (or is it bisexual?) sidekick had previously been billed as a TB guest star. Last season, she appeared in 11 of 13 episodes, per The Hollywood Reporter, which first broke the story.
More Pam is definitely a good thing. Need convincing? Watch this.

First Look: 'Big Bang Theory' hooks up Sheldon and Leonard's mother!
8 December 2009 11:59 AM, PST
Hate to say "I told you so," but… Wait. No. I love to say "I told you so." And I did! I totally hinted at a future hook-up between Big Bang Theory brainiacs Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard's mother, Beverly (The Good Wife's Christine Baranski), and see? On Monday's episode, "The Maternal Congruence," it's happening. At least that's the conclusion I'm drawing from the (possibly misleading) exclusive image above.
Oh, don't pretend you're as shocked as Penny (Kaley Cuoco) looks. You saw the sparks flying last time, too.
Timing for the return of the thinking man's cougar couldn't be better,

'Fringe' exclusive: Look who's playing Walter's wife (and Peter's mom)!
8 December 2009 11:42 AM, PST
The Bishop family unit is complete!
Irish actress Orla Brady — you may remember her as James Woods' ex on Shark — has nabbed the pivotal role of Walter's other half and mother to Peter, sources confirm to me exclusively.
The character — described in the initial casting breakdown as strong, smart, and likable — will debut in early '10.
Thoughts? She kind of has a Lena Olin vibe going for her, no?

Breaking: CBS cancels 'As the World Turns'
8 December 2009 8:44 AM, PST
And then there were six.
The ailing soap industry took another hit this morning with the announcement that CBS has canceled As the World Turns. The show will end its 54-year run in September.
The move, which comes just three months after CBS bid adieu to Guiding Light, will leave just six soaps on the air. The number could soon shrink to five if ABC axes One Life to Live, as has been rumored.
"We are disappointed and saddened by the news that the show is not being renewed," said Atwt exec producer Chris Goutman in a statement. "It will

'30 Rock' exclusive: Jack woos Elizabeth Banks
7 December 2009 7:06 PM, PST
Elizabeth Banks continues to exhibit impeccable taste when it comes to the company she keeps on the tube.
Fresh off her memorable guest turn on ABC's Modern Family, my former Scrubs co-star is headed to 30 Rock to play the latest notch on Jack Donaghy's belt, sources confirm to me exclusively.
NBC declined to comment, but I'm told Banks will appear in at least four episodes.
This marks the second high-profile romance for Alec Baldwin's corporate shill this season. This week, Julianne Moore kicks off a multi-episode arc as Jack's high school crush.
But back to Banks, would someone please

'Grey's Anatomy' mystery: Who is Alex's mistress?
7 December 2009 2:59 PM, PST
Oh, Alex Karev. If your wife wasn't such a pain this season, I'd be really angry that (according to an interview Justin Chambers recently did with TV Guide.com) you have a one-night stand in the first post-hiatus episode of Grey's Anatomy, which also happens to be the first part of the show's crossover with Private Practice. But whose arms does Alex run into in the Jan. 21 episode? Beats me. My crystal ball is buried beneath an avalanche of unopened mail. Enter new Ausiello Files contributor/Grey's addict Sandra Gonzalez, who narrowed down the possible suspects to the following six women.

Breaking: Can Elisha Cuthbert save 'The Forgotten'?
7 December 2009 11:14 AM, PST
ABC is confirming that 24 cougar bait Elisha Cuthbert is joining the cast of The Forgotten in a recurring role.
According to the hot-of-the-presses ABC press release, Cuthbert will play Maxine Denver, a "strong and successful Chicago professional who is forced to put her skepticism of 'amateur detectives' aside when The Forgotten Network begins investigating a case close to home."
Cuthbert is slated to debut on the ratings-challenged freshman drama in February, which is not long after she wraps up her multi-episode 24 return.
Getting back to the question I posed in the headline: Can Kim Bauer save The Forgotten? Or at the very least,

'Ugly Betty' exclusive: Vanessa Williams' bro cast as Willie's twin!
7 December 2009 10:45 AM, PST
It looks like Ugly Betty's new Wednesday timeslot is going to be a real drag for Wilhelmina Slater — but in a good way.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Vanessa Williams' real-life bro, Chris Williams (a.k.a. Curb Your Enthusiasm's Crazy Eyez Killah!), will guest star in an early '10 episode as Willie's drag queen doppelganger, Wilhediva Hater.
Good, right? Wait, it gets better.
Here's the set-up, per an Ugly insider: Willie gets tipped off that someone has been regularly impersonating her at a drag club and she tries to shut the act down. That is,
