Adam Lambert, Taylor Swift And Eight Others Who Could Replace Steven Tyler In Aerosmith

In the history of rock and roll, few bands have had worse luck than Aerosmith. Throughout their nearly four decade career, they've battled drug issues, marketplace apathy, illness and in-fighting. They were forced to cancel a tour this year because of an injury to frontman Steven Tyler, who recently decided that he would leave the band behind for a while to pursue a solo career. Guitarist and longtime Tyler collaborator Joe Perry (who has a solo album of his own) took to his Twitter to announce that while the band isn't breaking up, they are searching for a new singer while Tyler is off on his own. "Aerosmith is positively looking for a new singer to work with. You just can't take 40 years of experience and throw it in the bin," Perry tweeted. "[The] band is playing hotter than ever and our songs need to be played live. Don't despair: Aerosmith is not splitting up. »

Robert Pattinson Thinks Edward Cullen Is Sort Of A Jerk: The MTV News Quote Of The Day

"One of the main things I felt [while filming the breakup scene] was what fans think of Bella and Edward's relationship, what that represents to them as the ideal relationship. You're breaking up the ideal relationship. I felt a lot of the weight behind that ... you could really feel the audience watching as you're doing it."

-"New Moon" star and international heartthrob Robert Pattinson, discussing the difficulty in trying to keep his character heroic while breaking up a relationship that the audience clearly doesn't want to see dissolved. In an interview with MTV News' Larry Carroll, Pattinson admitted that Edward Cullen, the undead object of affection in the "Twilight" series, could be considered something of a jerk. Not only that, but he's something of a stalker. "I guess that's what the story is about in 'New Moon'," Pattinson said. "I love Charlie — Bella's dad's — attitude toward Edward in this one; he never »

Dane Cook Collaborating With Tommy Lee On New Album

Dane Cook is excited about making some new music. A few years back he had a sleeper hit with his song "I'll Never Be You," and now the comedian (who is currently on tour and who loves frightening unsuspecting individuals) is poised to get Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee on board for his next contribution to the music world.

"I am actually collaborating with Tommy Lee," he revealed to MTV News. "I used to love Mötley Crüe growing up and he's a big fan of mine. I called him the other day and I said 'Would you collaborate on this thing that I put together?'"

And after Tommy used many curse words (we assume out of excitement), he agreed to come on board and work with Cook. "It's actually very different than anything he's done before," he said. "He's a sensational drummer. I would say this is a little »

MTV Staffer LiliAna Rose's Music Career Gets A Boost From Perez Hilton

Yesterday began as a normal day for LiliAna Rose. She woke up and came to work at MTV headquarters in New York as a member of the integrated marketing team. But then she checked her RSS feed and saw something she was not expecting: Her own name.

When she's not working at MTV, Rose is nurturing her career as a singer-songwriter, and yesterday her song "Walk Across the Ocean" was featured on the official site of gossip writer/music label boss Perez Hilton. "This is so pretty!" the blogger wrote. "If you like Cat Power, Yael Naim or Joan Baez, then you will love this!"

"I sent an e-mail to Perez a week ago. He wrote back almost instantly, and he said 'I really love this song, send me more.' So I sent him some more," Rose told MTV News. "He wrote back 'Great stuff, I really love it. »

'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2' Requires The Right Soundtrack

If you're anything like me, you'll be spending the better part of the next four or five months of your life playing all the different variations available on the new watershed video game "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2." The sequel to the wildly successful "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" (which pulled the military shooter series from historical skirmishes to the current day conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan), "Modern Warfare 2" has not only established itself as the best of a great set of titles but also immediately enters the discussion of the greatest video games of all time, right alongside "Super Mario Bros.," "Halo," "Grand Theft Auto III" and "Madden '95." (For the complete take on "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," check out Multiplayer editor Russ Frushtick's in-depth review.)

The cinematic qualities of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" are overwhelming, including a lush score by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer ("Gladiator, »

Lady Gaga's 'Bad Romance' Video: The Key Scene

Lady Gaga's official Web site has been teasing a new music video for a few days now, but it has finally arrived. The clip, for the new single "Bad Romance," is vintage Gaga, featuring striking colors, bizarre costumes, stunning effects, muscular dancing and a little bit of ultra-violence. The clip is the first of two hotly-anticipated clips that Gaga will be premiering as tie-ins to her upcoming album The Fame Monster, an expanded version of her 2008 debut that includes eight brand-new tracks. (The other upcoming video is the Beyoncé-assisted "Telephone," which will appear on the expanded edition of Beyoncé's double album I Am ... Sasha Fierce.)

The video for "Bad Romance" seems to take place aboard a space station (perhaps the same one that Michael and Janet Jackson are on in "Scream") and has a vague narrative: Gaga is captured and brought to a man wearing a golden mandible, theoretically for sex. »

Rihanna Says Jay-z And Kanye West Are 'My Brothers'

In her brief but already prolific career, Rihanna has collaborated with some of the biggest stars in the business, including Justin Timberlake (on "Rehab"), T.I. (the buoyant "Live Your Life") and Ne-Yo ("Hate That I Love You"). But her two biggest tag-team efforts have been with legendary rapper Jay-z. The first time they crossed paths was in 2007 with "Umbrella," which was just voted the best song of the decade in a recent poll. More recently, she provided the hook for "Run This Town," Jigga's big comeback single and video that also featured Kanye West. Despite the star power in the room, Rihanna said that creating that incredible jam was nothing but fun.

"They're like my brothers," Rihanna told MTV News' Sway during their interview yesterday. "Especially Jay-z. We're really close." The singer also told Sway that "working with him was effortless but really enjoyable, and every time we perform the song it's fun. »

Them Crooked Vultures Stream Their Entire Album

By Joel Hanek

In the event of a world-ending nuclear disaster, I'm pretty sure the only remaining creatures on earth will be cockroaches and the members of Them Crooked Vultures. This rock supergroup — comprised of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age singer/guitarist Josh Homme and legendary Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones — have survived decades of musical waves where tracks with guitars have weaned in relevancy.

Since the band announced its existence a mere six months ago, fans have been waiting in anticipation to get their hands on some music. Unfortunately, the only place to hear any Them Crooked Vultures songs were either going to one of the few live shows or by enduring a tinny camera-phone bootleg. Now fans can finally get their fix. After releasing an album track on iTunes last week for free, the band has put their entire album up for stream on YouTube. »

Spotted: The Cast Of 'Glee' Lets Loose

Every day a multitude of stars wanders through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

In a typical television season, there are usually only two or three decent shows mixed among a giant glut of non-starters. But this season has been different, having already delivered the sharp comedy "Modern Family," the excellent sci-fi remake "V" and the inconsistent but interesting psychodrama "Flash Forward." Of course, there is still plenty of garbage out there — just watch 30 seconds of "Accidentally on Purpose" for proof. By far this season's breakout new show is "Glee," the witty, biting comedy that skews high school life, theater geeks and pop music in a rapid-fire stew that is pretty irresistible. What's most impressive is that »

Justin Bieber And Diddy Collaborate On Cars, Girls

By Nuzhat Naoreen

Justin Bieber fans should give themselves a big pat on the back. It seems like the fan campaign, launched via Twitter, to get Diddy to collaborate with the rising pop star just got off the ground. Both Justin and Diddy tweeted a video yesterday of the two of them spending two days together. Sure, it's not the music video fans were hoping for, but it's certainly a start.

Justin tweeted, "It's official. New video. 48 Hrs with Justin Bieber and Diddy." In the video, "Justin Bieber's 48 Hrs with Diddy," Diddy promises the 15-year-old singer the keys to a gleaming Lamborghini as soon as he turns 16. Of course, Bieber doesn't let him off so easy.

"I mean I'm 15, you can ride in the passenger seat," he tells Diddy. "I've got my permit." Diddy doesn't take the bait, but does make another promise to the young singer.

"Then when you're 18 you get the house, »

Taylor Swift Becomes Fearless: Wake-Up Video

There aren't many true superstars left in the music world. Sure, there are plenty of people who make a big splash, but how many artists can pick up some buzz and then turn that into a sustainable career? When you consider her reach and her ability to diversify, it's possible to say that Taylor Swift is the country's biggest music star at the moment. On this day last year, Swift released her second album Fearless, which expanded on the promise of her self-titled debut and blew her pop-country sound open to embrace every listener at once. It's rare that an attempt to be everything to everyone actually pays off, but Swift's Fearless is the exception to the rule. 52 weeks later, Fearless remains in the top 10 on the Billboard album chart and has sold over four million copies. In fact, the only album on the chart whose sales are even close »

Kris Allen's Debut Album: The Preview

9 November 2009 3:20 PM, PST

Being a diehard "American Idol" fan is an emotional roller-coaster. No matter how much you dig a performer on the show, by the time his or her album leaks your fandom has been deflated by less-than-awesome singles and frustrations with how they're being marketed. "Idol" albums are often over-written, over-produced and over-calculated, making the artist feel like studio-bots with little personality. "I'll like the songs on tour, without all the studio crap around it," you say to yourself, trying to save face when deep down you know your favorite new singer laid an egg.

Well, fans of our current "American Idol" can breathe a giant sigh of relief, because AOL premiered Kris Allen's self-titled major label debut this morning and it’s pretty damn good.

I jotted down some notes while listening to the CD for the first time. And MTV News would like me to share them with you. »

Adam Lambert Defends His Glittery Image: The MTV News Quote Of The Day

9 November 2009 1:47 PM, PST

"People want to talk about whether I have rock cred, whether I'm selling out, the theatricality, the gay stuff. ... Chill out! And just enjoy yourself. It's not that deep. Sometimes it is deep. Some of the songs on the album are. Sometimes it's just, 'This is hot, I feel good, this song makes me want to go get a drink and flirt with somebody and have a good time.' Good energy is just as credible as the cathartic, dark, heavy stuff. It's just as important!"

-"American Idol" runner-up and budding glam icon Adam Lambert, who spoke to The Los Angeles Times about his debut album, his ever-evolving image and the public reaction to his work outside of "Idol." Lambert's first record For Your Entertainment drops in a few weeks, but he has already found himself defending his aesthetic choices — including his embrace of traditionally theatrical tropes. "People look at me and immediately say, »

Wyclef Jean Conquers Former MTV Intern In Push-Up Competition

9 November 2009 1:27 PM, PST

By Josh Rosenstrauch

After four months of training and plenty of trash talk, it finally went down. This morning, I competed against Wyclef Jean in the push-up competition he challenged me to during my internship at MTV this past summer. It took place at a free concert he put on at the Nokia Theater in Times Square.

When I first entered the venue, I was greeted by Wyclef's manager and a few of his band members. After explaining to them what it was I was doing backstage, one of them told me that an artist will never let someone upstage him on his own stage. I should have taken the hint.

I had been training for a head to head push-up competition with Wyclef. This meant we each do push-ups until one of us drops. If you ask me, I was pretty prepared.

When Wyclef arrived backstage, he shook my hand and said, »

Trailer For Lil Wayne Doc 'The Carter' Premieres Online

9 November 2009 12:39 PM, PST

Back in April, Lil Wayne attempted to block the release of a documentary about him called "The Carter." The film, which features candid interviews with the rapper and followed him on the road while promoting The Carter III, contains at least one scene of Weezy mixing and sipping syrup. A judge shot down the attempt, which allowed the production company to seek distribution.

In the end, the company has chosen to distribute the DVD of "The Carter" themselves, and over the weekend a brand-new trailer premiered touting DVD pre-orders. The trailer makes "The Carter" look like an incredible piece of cinema. It catches him on stage, in the studio and behind the scenes in what looks to be a series of smoke-filled, frank conversations. In one scene, Weezy declares that he doesn't think of himself as a rock star ("I just record") and in another, he dismisses the idea of contemplating his own death. »

Jay-z: Basketball Flip-Flopper

9 November 2009 11:28 AM, PST

It's probably an obvious thing to say, but it's good to be Jay-z. The rapper/business mogul/pop icon has spent the past few months putting out one of the best albums of his career in The Blueprint 3, embarked on a successful tour, did a duet with U2 at the MTV Europe Music Awards, starred in a pair of iconic videos ("Run This Town" and "Empire State of Mind") and helped the New York Yankees win the World Series (or at least helped to celebrate their victory). Just in the past few days, he performed at the Yankees' victory parade in downtown Manhattan, took in a Knicks game with a couple of players from the team (including Alex Rodriguez) and then flew out to California for more tour dates and a stop at Sunday night's Los Angeles Lakers game against the New Orleans Hornets.

And that is where the problems begin. »

Spotted: Britney Spears Takes In The Australian Sun

9 November 2009 10:42 AM, PST

Every day a multitude of stars wanders through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

While most of North America begins to settle into the crisp, cold winter months, Britney Spears is enjoying the birth of the Australian summer. She has taken her Circus tour down under for a series of shows, marking the first time that Spears has performed live in Australia. Though the shows have been wildly entertaining, things haven't gone entirely to plan. According to reports, fans walked out on the first few shows while complaining that the performance was "boring" and "stiff." That news reportedly upset Spears, whose tour promoter said, "I'm embarrassed, with such a big international entourage here with Britney, to be »

Backstreet Boys' A.J. McLean: Huge 'Twilight' Fan

9 November 2009 9:51 AM, PST

Given the fact that A.J. McLean have always been the Backstreet Boy who wears eyeliner and occasionally dons shirts that sparkle in the sun (like in the "I'll Never Break Your Heart" music video), it seems pretty unsurprising that the dude loves himself some "Twilight."

His bandmate, Brian Littrell, has been going around revealing to everyone that A.J. adores the vampire-centric teen movie, so when MTV News got our grubby little hands on him, we had to hear it straight from A.J. himself about how much he adores the story of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. And in case anybody was wondering: A.J. is Team Edward.

"'New Moon' looks amazing," he told us. "I'm glad they're actually upping it and making it like more real vampire, no so much a love story. It's gonna be great. There's more werewolves in this one! It's gonna be good, »

Taylor Swift's 'You Belong With Me' Gets Covered By Pink, Katy Perry Producer Butch Walker

9 November 2009 8:56 AM, PST

The centerpiece of Taylor Swift's musical performance on this past weekend's edition of "Saturday Night Live" was her smash "You Belong With Me," and it drove home the fact that it's a really stunning, moving, catchy tune. The Fearless track, co-written by Swift and songwriter Liz Rose, features a sweet hook, direct lyrics and Swift's amazing voice, which melds country twang with teenage heartbreak.

But does it work without Swift's command of the melody? Producer Butch Walker — best known for his work with Pink, Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry and as the frontman of power-poppers Marvelous 3 — intended to find out. Over the weekend, he posted a video of himself recording and performing his own cover of "You Belong With Me." The seven-minute clip begins with Walker messing around in a studio, playing with drums and tuning a mandolin, while also taking breaks to drink copious amounts of water and hit the bathroom. »

Bruce Springsteen Plays The River For The First — And Only? — Time

9 November 2009 8:10 AM, PST

"Just this one time! Too long to do it again!"

And with that tongue-in-cheek introduction by the world's greatest rock frontman, the first — and probably only — full album performance of Bruce Springsteen's 1980 double-album The River began at New York City's Madison Square Garden. In an arena most often populated by athletes half his age, this minister of rock and roll — armed with a black vest and his signature yellow Fender — preached to 30,000 devoted congregants whose enthusiasm for the show was matched only by his own.

Prefaced only by the ultra-new "Wrecking Ball" at the top of the show, the Boss and his band launched into the 20 song opus of love and dreams and youth in Jersey. Although full album performances aren't new to the E Street Band, The River had never been among them. The album's odd mix of down-tempo, heartbreaking ballads like the title track and "Point Blank »
