The Twilight Saga: New Moon Breaks First Day Records!
21 November 2009 6:39 AM, PST
No one thought Batman could be defeated at the box office. Well, it's finally happened, as the second entry in the extremely hot Twilight franchise, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, not only broke the all-time box office record for midnight screenings, but also toppled the record number of first day box office receipts once held by The Dark Knight. Take that, fanboys!
Twilight fans are certainly a devoted bunch. At midnight screenings in 3,514 theaters, the film earned a hefty $26.3 million. The previous record was held by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince which nabbed a measly $22.2 million when it opened at midnight last July. The big news comes with New Moon's first day grosses of $71 million playing at 4,024 theaters. That crushes The Dark Knight's first day take of $67.2 million by more than $4 million dollars. It's going to be a hard record to beat now!

Avatar to Run Two and a Half Hours
21 November 2009 5:09 AM, PST
Expectations for James Cameron's long awaited return to the director's chair with Avatar are extremely high. And the running time seems to be a point of contention with the director's fans. Some have speculated that the film will clock in at over three hours, but according to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, the total running length of the film will only be 150 minutes (two and a half hours) due to limits imposed by IMAX technology. The film could run a few minutes longer once credits have been added to the finished product.
This will allow for only two screenings a night at most theaters. The film will launch at midnight, and screen around the clock, but only for the first few days of release. At this time, it is unclear how many theater screens Avatar will play on, but speculation has it appearing on a record 5,500 screens. »

But he sure does know a lot about movies and human nature. You can send your questions to (as in, click on the giant red letters and you will automatically be sent to his email):

Megan Fox Has a 'Great Part' in Transformers 3

Despite the controversial comments that Megan Fox has made about her Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen director Michael Bay, it seems the actress is set to reprise her role in the next film. USA Today recently spoke with Bay who talked about Fox's role in Transformers 3, and confirmed he won't be killing off her character.
"She's got a great part in Transformers 3," and he said he's currently working on the script. So Bay's not planning on getting revenge by, say, killing her off? "No, no. no," he said, dismissing it. "She gets enough of that already."

The Twilight Saga: New Moon Breaks Midnight Showing Record
20 November 2009 5:12 AM, PST
The official tally hasn't been released yet, but early indicators show that a highly-anticipated vampire sequel might have set a record from its midnight debut last night. Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that The Twilight Saga: New Moon took in between $23 and $24 million from midnight screenings, which would be a new record if it holds true.
The mark would eclipse the $22.2 million that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince set this summer, which beat out last summer's blockbuster The Dark Knight's tally of $18.5 million from midnight screenings. The $23-$24 million gross wasn't confirmed, but the site was reporting that rival studios estimated the figure.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon opened in 3,514 theaters for midnight debuts last night and the film expands to 4,024 theaters today. We'll be sure to keep you posted on this story as soon as the official numbers are released.
