Following up on the previous news about the Terminator franchise rights being up for sale, self-proclaimed "Very Important Hollywood Mogul" Joss Whedon has penned a hilarious note to the franchise owners in an attempt to acquire the franchise with a mighty fine $10,000 check. Says Whedon: "That's four -- Four! -- zeroes after that one. That's to show you I mean business. And I mean show business." He goes on to list the myriad of brilliant ideas he has for the franchise, including Terminator of the Rings ("Yeah, what if he time-travelled Too far... back to when there was dragons and wizards?"), liberal use of Summer Glau, and a throat lozenge for a certain Mr. Bale. While hilarious, the piece could also be seen as spitting on the grave of the recently departed Sarah Connor Chronicles. It was very clear come last season that Fox was willing to only keep ... »

In case you haven't heard, the rights to the Terminator franchise are once again going to be up for grabs [1] when they are auctioned off later this month, and a number of studios are said to be interested including Sony, Summit Entertainment and Media Rights Capital. It's unclear what this will mean for the future of the franchise, but apparently big media corporations aren't the only ones hoping to get a chance to repackage and resell the robot apocalypse. Believe it or not, there are a few other interested parties out there, including one... Joss Whedon? In a somewhat humourous and irreverent open letter posted on Whedonesque [2] and Deadline Hollywood [3], the man behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly and Dollhouse offers up a tidy sum of $10,000 for the franchise, and proceeds to give some of his ideas about what to do with it. As expected, there is at least one »

The rights to the Terminator franchise have only been up on the auction block for about as long as it takes Arnold Schwarzenegger to emerge naked from a time bubble, but a veteran Hollywood mogul has already expressed interest in taking the brand off the hands of the now-bankrupt Halcyon; and that vet is none other than Toy Story, Alien: Resurrection, and Titan A.E. screenwriter Joss Whedon (oh, and he created Buffy the Vampire Slayer and "Firefly"/Serenity, but I don't think anyone has ever heard of those).
Mr. Whedon took the time out of his busy schedule running his latest TV show, the Eliza Dushku starring "Dollhouse", to write an earnest letter to Halcyon making the case for why he's the right man for the job. And as with all things Whedon, his proposal has its fair share of the funny.
In it, he outlines the six possible directions he'd take the franchise, »

(S04E07) We'll have to wait until next week to see Hiro try to save Charlie. This week, we stayed with Noah and Jeremy, checked back in on Claire and Gretchen, and saw how Matt was faring with his unwanted head-guest. And things didn't really go well for any of them.
The series is really finding a nice stride, for those of us left to enjoy it. I'm racking my brain trying to think of ways to inject a sense of excitement into the show to lure some of its wayward former viewers back. Who could they cast for an arc on Heroes that people would have to tune in to see. Summer Glau? Jennifer Aniston? Bill Cosby (he has the power of slow dancing)?
They're keeping things pretty simple now, not stretching us beyond three storylines per episode, and the sense of excitement and wonder really is back in »

Well, cut me open and splay my innards. This episode was awesome. Written by Joss Whedon’s little brother Jed and his wife Maurissa Tancharoen, this episode Topher develops morals and Sierra kills a client. Also, this episode was directed by Jonathan Frakes (of Star Trek The Next Generation) making it all around awesome.
The last time I recapped Dollhouse, I was pretty harsh saying the show has to give me something worth saving it for. Now I can say that for episodes like this one, its worth saving this show for more of this kind of stuff.
We open on Sierra displaying some of her art on the beach, when Dr. Nolan Kinnard (Vincent Ventresca) comes up to her and asks her out. Flash forward to a gallery showing of Sierra/Priya’s work. Priya wants to leave with Victor who has been imbued with the consciousness of an Italian Art Dealer. »

Episode Title: "Belonging"
Written By: Maurissa Tanchareon & Jed Whedon
The Story: The lens is tightened upon Sierra (Dichen Lachman) as viewers learn about her tragic past. Even worse, it dawns on Topher (Fran Kranz) and other Dollhouse officials that Sierra never came to the Dollhouse willingly — but that discovery comes with wildly unpredictable results for Sierra, Topher and more. Meanwhile, Boyd Langton (Harry Lennix) begins to realize that something has changed about Echo (Eliza Dushku).
Cognitive Dissonance: It's not the least bit bizarre that the season's best episode seems to have nothing, or almost nothing in common with Echo herself. "Belonging," which was directed by longtime "Star Trek" actor Jonathan Frakes, focused squarely on Sierra and Topher, with periphery roles for Boyd, Victor, Adelle and Echo. Other than a few choice lines of dialogue, this episode didn't do much to push the show's overall mythology, yet still I think »

The October 23 episode of "Dollhouse" would be the last from this month. The series will take a break during November sweeps and be back on December 4 with a two-hour event featuring Summer Glau's cameo.
In "The Public Eye (Part 1)", Echo is sent to stop Senator Daniel Perrin (guest star Alexis Denisof) before he can expose the Dollhouse's secrets. Adelle and Topher travel to the Washington, DC, Dollhouse where they meet its genius programmer, Bennett Halverson (Summer Glau), a woman with a mysterious past connection to Echo.
In "The Left Hand (Part 2)", Echo and Bennett have a shocking meeting as Adelle goes head-to-head with the ruthless head of the DC Dollhouse (guest star Ray Wise). Topher sees double when he must involve Victor in his espionage. Perrin finds a surprising witness to testify against the Rossum Corporation, but finds he may be living in a house of cards.

The geek guest parade on Big Bang Theory continues: Katee "Starbuck" Sackhoff will enter the hallowed halls of geekery on the November 23 episode. Ayee! Sackhoff isn't the first Battlestar Galactica alum to stop by Bbt: Michael "Anders" Trucco played Penny's ex in my favorite episode of the series, "The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis." Fellow sci-fi hottie Summer Glau guest-starred, and various nerd heroes have made appearances, like last week's guest spot from Wil Wheaton. According to the Chicago Tribune, Sackhoff will play herself as "Wolowitz's fantasy woman" (everyone's... fantasy... woman?). I still haven't gotten over my BSG withdrawal, so any »

Well, crap. After reassuring fans that it would air all 13 second season episodes, Fox has decided to bench Dollhouse for all of November during the all-important sweeps month. The Eliza Dushku/Joss Whedon collaboration will then return with back-to-back episodes Fridays in December.
That’s quite a body blow to the series. Baring a ratings miracle, this means for all intents and purposes that the series will end for good after that 13th episode. Pulling the show for sweeps is a big deal and shows a total lack of confidence in its ability to bring in viewers. It will replace the show with reruns of House and Bones.
The thing that makes this news especially bittersweet is that the series was just getting good — really, really good. Last week’s episode, “Belle Chose,” was the best of the second season. And judging by early reviews, this Friday’s installment “Belonging” is even better. »

The geek-friendly guest stars just keep rolling into Big Bang Theory central ... Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff will appear in the Nov. 23 episode of the CBS comedy. This news comes less than a week after former Squadder Wil Wheaton showed up to crush Sheldon's spirit and help boost the show's ratings.
Sackhoff will play herself in the episode, but don't expect her role to be as big as Wheaton's or Summer Glau's last season. The former Starbuck is only dropping by for a cameo, says the Chicago Tribune's Maureen Ryan, but that won't stop Wolowitz from stalking her, and I doubt it'll stop her fans from tuning in and boosting the show's ratings again.

I don't know what can be done to save Dollhouse. Languishing in the ratings cesspool on Friday nights, Michael Ausiello has announced via Twitter that Dollhouse will be shelved by Fox during the all-important November sweeps period, replaced by reruns of House and Bones:
Exclusive: Hearing Fox will bench Dollhouse for November sweeps and air back-to-back eps on Friday night in December.
The Futon Critic reports that Dollhouse will return in December showing two episodes per night, apparently burning off the remaining episodes.
You certainly can't blame Joss Whedon and the producers for this. They've done a miraculous job treying to save the show, including bringing in fan favorites Ray Wise, Jamie Bamber, Keith Carradine, Alexis Denisoff, and Summer Glau to spice up the series.
Even figuring in DVR numbers probably won't be able to stop Fox from burning off the final episodes of Dollhouse in December as they've been stagnant. »

Katee Sackhoff aka Starbuck of "Battlestar Galactica" will be visiting half-hour comedy "The Big Bang Theory" next month. A one-time guest appearance has been arranged to happen on the November 23 episode, CBS has confirmed.
Maureen Ryan of Chicago Tribune revealed that Sackhoff will play herself and that there "may be nudity" involved. What kind of storyline Sackhoff will contribute is not elaborated but it is said that she would be Howard Wolowitz's fantasy woman.
This is not the first time that the comedy brings in an actress to play herself and to become the boys' object of affection. In the second season, Leonard, Raj and Wolowitz met Summer Glau during a trip by train. Upon realizing that she is the star of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles", they discussed on who should make the move of hitting at her first.
Sackhoff playing herself may be the most apt casting for the geeky show. »

The Dollhouse has been saved, sort of. Fox has promised to air all the 13 second season episodes it ordered so far of the Eliza Dushku series. So the rumors of Dollhouse’s early and untimely demise seem to have been put to rest for now.
First, yay! Second, no really, yay! The complicated, mind-boggling (and erasing) universe that Joss Whedon has built has been a slow starter both seasons. But those who continue to stick with the show are rewarded with better and better episodes. Last week’s installment, “Belle Chose,” was the best of the new season and one of the best in the series’ runs, deftly combining the scary and the funny and the truly creepy together.
Fox scheduling chief Preston Beckman told The Hollywood Reporter that they would air all the episode despite the show’s low ratings: “We're not saying we’re happy with those numbers, »

With the news of the Dollhouse premiere underperforming in the ratings and the abrupt cancellation of fan favorite shows like Southland, I’ve been watching my txt’s and emails with baited breath expecting to hear about the cancellation of my favorite Friday night show, Dollhouse.
Now, it looks like I can, for the moment, comfortably peruse my inbox as Fox scheduling chief Preston Beckman spoke with The Hollywood Reporter and stated that the network will air all 13 episodes of the (Joss) Whedon-created drama despite their less than stellar ratings.
In an unusual but refreshing move, Beckman lays everything out on the table regarding the struggling show.
“We’re going to run all the episodes. We’re not saying we’re happy with those numbers, or accept them, but we don’t have to overreact. During [November] sweeps we might have to jack up the numbers a little [with other programming], but we plan »

She saved John Connor, but can she boost the ratings for another struggling Fox sci-fi show?
Former Terminator fembot Summer Glau joins Joss Wheodn's Dollhouse on Oct. 30 for a recurring stint as Bennett, a programmer who shares a past with Eliza Dushku's Echo. During last week's episode of Dollhouse, the network hyped Glau's upcoming appearance with a special promo promising, "In three weeks, Sumer Glau joins the cast of Dollhouse!" I could be wrong, but it seemed like Fox was banking on Glau's star power to get more people to watch the show. Sadly, I don't think that's gonna happen.
I love Summer Glau. I was a big fan of Tscc and Firefly, and I'm eagerly anticipating her appearance on Dollhouse. I'm sure Whedon has crafted an interesting character for Glau, and I'm sure she'll be part of a compelling arc that will fold nicely into the Dollhouse mythology. »

Possibly the biggest story on the Dollhouse casting front this season is Summer Glau joining the cast for a handful of episodes. We know she's appearing as a programmer at another Dollhouse, much like Topher is in Los Angeles. We even speculated that she might be Topher's love interest. Well, I don't really know about that now.
Fox has released a couple of photos from the October 30 episode of Dollhouse, and that's where we are introduced to Bennett Halverson, a woman who's got a mysterious connection with Echo. Maybe she's also an activist who got a bit luckier because she flipped to the other side in time? »
