Mini Biography

Phie Ambo is a Danish director who grew up in Snekkersten in Denmark. She graduated as a math-student from Helsingør Gymnasium in 1992. In 2001 she co-directed her debut film "Family" together with Sami Saif. Their film "Family" won a Robert award for Best Documentary. Phie Ambo followed "Family" (2001) up with "Growing Up In a Day" in 2002.

In 2006 she directed "Gambler" which is a documentary about the controversial Danish auteur-director Nicolas Winding Refn ("Pusher", "Bleeder", "Fear X", "Pusher 2" and "Pusher 3"), and his struggle to continue making films after going financially bankrupt in 2003.
