Hollywood star Charlize Theron has endeared herself to the entire Irish nation after selecting Ireland in the draw for the World Cup. Shocked FIFA observers nearly fell over themselves when Theron plucked an "Ireland" ball out of the bowl in the dress rehearsal for Friday's draw. "Ireland," she announced as FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke went pale in the face. Theron, who is a big supporter of the Irish team, is no stranger to making her opinions heard. She is refusing to marry long-time Irish boyfriend Stuart Townsend until gay marriage is legal. Ireland of course were knocked out by France after a much disputed handball by Thierry Henry. Now FIFA officials are concerned that she might repeat the stunt on Friday when she co-hosts the draw with Valcke. Valcke confirmed the stunt drawing at press conference after the rehearsal. "Yes, she did, but it was only a joke," he said. »

Charlize Theron will be a two-turkey chef on Thanksgiving Day on Thursday - after inviting a pack of friends over to her home in Los Angeles for a feast.
The South African-born actress became a U.S. citizen in 2007 and now she loves the holidays and makes the most of them every year.
But she admits she and boyfriend Stuart Townsend were shocked by the amount of people who opted to spend Thanksgiving Day with them instead of with their own families.
The Monster star explains, "I did this thing where my boyfriend and I kind of made this list of people that we love... and we thought, 'Y'know, it's Thanksgiving and people will go and be with their families... Half of these people won't say yes.' They're all coming to my house."
But Theron is prepared - she's cooking two turkeys with all the trimmings and she's using her guests as guinea-pigs for a few new recipes.
She adds, "I'm gonna make some jalapeno cornbread for the first time this year... and this lovely bartender gave us a shot of tequila and it was really yummy and he told me that he infuses it with watermelon and pineapple and berries; it takes the edge of it... so I'm doing that." »

Quick casting update coming your way for Marvel's Thor. Though we have the title character covered by Chris Hemsworth, and the Warrior's Three with Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano, and a leading lady with Natalie Portman, never mind the fact that Anthony Hopkins also stars, there was still room leftover for the female character Darcy, who will be played by Kat Dennings.

We don't know much about Darcy, except for the fact that the character will be close to Natalie Portman's Jane Foster. »

Marvel's keeping mum on exactly who Dennings will play, but The Hollywood Reporter says they've heard from sources she'll be playing someone who works for Portman's character. Filming is expected to begin early next year.
Dennings was most recently seen in Robert Rodriguez' kiddie movie, Shorts, and recently finished work on Defendor with Woody Harrelson (Zombieland, 2012).

Kat Dennings is joining the cast of Marvel’s Thor, another positive addition to an already stellar line-up.
I know I’ve already listed the Thor cast a number of times, but glance over these names again and imagine how awesome this is going to be with Kenneth Branagh at the helm.
Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Jamie Alexander (Sif), Ray Stevenson (Volstagg), Stuart Townsend (Fandral), Tadanobu Asano (Hogun), Colm Feore, and Stellan Skarsgard. Plus Idris Elba was just added.
Natalie Portman, who also stars as Jane Foster, told MTV she’s most looking forward to working with Dennings, which was news to everyone else because she hadn’t been announced yet.
Marvel is keeping the Dennings role a secret, but HeyuGuys (via Slashfilm) worked out who Dennings might be playing. Here’s the casting breakdown of the potential part:

That movie about the guy with the hammer just got a little more interesting. Kat Dennings has joined the cast of the new live-action adaptation of Thor alongside Natalie Portman.
The Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist star will join an impressive cast that includes Natalie, Anthony Hopkins, Stuart Townsend and Chris Hemsworth as the Norse god of thunder himself with Kenneth Branagh directing.
Now, if a superhero movie starring Oscar nominee Natalie and indie darling Kat seems a little strange, you’re not alone. But then stranger things have happened. I mean, if they can make Seth Rogen a superhero then all bets are apparently off.
Natalie will play “doctor/scientist type” Jane Foster, who has been upgraded from her original comic book incarnation as a nurse. No official word on what Kat will play yet, but according to slashfilm.com a casting breakdown released earlier show a character »

Natalie Portman recently explained that she was compelled to join Thor because the Kenneth Branagh-directed movie seemed "super weird." Now she's dropping Thor casting news to MTV.
Well I'm really excited. Kat Dennings [(Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, the upcoming Defendor)] is going to be in it with me and she's a good friend and an amazing actress, so I'm looking forward to that.
What role Dennings will play is unknown. A casting notice found in October mentions the role of college student Marcy Lewis, who interns with a scientist and "deals with her situation both by using subtle irony and by being an overt wiseass." Considering Portman's casting as nurse Jane Foster, coupled with Portman's enthusiasm over Dennings' casting, the role of Marcy could be a potential lock.

Kat Dennings (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, The House Bunny) has joined the cast of Thor, Marvel Studios’ upcoming huge-budget adaptation of the graphic novel hero.
The news comes by way of Thor co-star Natalie Portman who told MTV about her excitement.
“Well I’m really excited… Kat Dennings is going to be in it with me and she’s a good friend and an amazing actress, so I’m looking forward to that,” Portman said.
No word on which character Dennings will portray.
The 23-year-old will be joining Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore, (hold on, let me catch my breath…okay, I’m good) Samuel L. Jackson, Stellan Skarsgard, Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano.
Thor will be directed by Kenneth Branagh with production to kick off in January.

Following several actors who have been previously confirmed to join "Thor", Kat Dennings also has a part in the film. The news was first spilled by the film's star Natalie Portman when she was interviewed by MTV Splash Page. "Well I'm really excited. Kat Dennings is going to be in it with me and she's a good friend and an amazing actress, so I'm looking forward to that," the depicter of Thor's first love Jane Foster said.
Dennings' inclusion in the cast ensemble for the film was later confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. However, there has been no word on what character that will be played by the 23-year-old beauty as the site claimed Marvel Studio keeps a closed lid on her role.
Dennings is perhaps best known for her role as Norah Silverberg in "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist", which aided her to receive nomination as Breakthrough Performance Female at 2009 MTV Movie Awards. »

Blimey. If the cast of Marvel’s Thor continues to swell at its current rate, pretty soon there won’t be an actor on Earth who won’t have some sort of part in it. Even Joe Swash might get the call at some point. That’s because, hot on the heels of the news that the godlike Idris Elba has signed on to play the ungodlike Heimdall (because he’s, well, an actual god), Kat Dennings has also come on board, joining the already-cast Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, Stuart Townsend, Jaimie Alexander, Jedward, Jermain Defoe and the cast of the West End production of Inherit The Wind.No word yet on who Dennings, the lovely and talented indie chick who lit up Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist with her deadpan charms (ok, we fancy her), will play in the Kenneth Branagh-directed epic, »

It was surprising, to say the least, when Natalie Portman broke the news yesterday that Kat Dennings was going to be in Thor, but the real story was that nobody had any idea as to what role she would play. With Portman already cast in the role of Jane Foster and Jaimie Alexander playing the Asgardian warrior Sif, more female roles weren't immediately apparent, causing some to speculate that Dennings would be playing a role made just for the film. Turns out that they were probably right. Following the news, the writers over at Hey U Guys astutely went back to look at a casting call from last month, which included the Warriors Three (Now confirmed to be Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson, and Tadanobu Asano) as well as a character named Marcy Lewis, who is described as such: .[Marcy Lewis] (20) Is a college student. It's pedal to the metal time over at Kenneth Branagh's big Thor adaptation. The casting came slowly but surely for about four months, but here lately, Marvel has ramped up the ensemble quite a bit. In the past week or so, Ray Stevenson, Stuart Townsend, Idris Elba, and Tabadnobu Asano have all been confirmed, and on Monday, it was reported by MTV that Natalie Portman broke the latest cast news.
Kat Dennings, late of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, will be part of the hammer swingin' fun, although it was not immediately made clear what role she might play. Thankfully, SpoilertTV had a casting announcement back in October that seems to be a very good fit for Dennings:
“[Marcy Lewis] (20) Is a college student. Aloof, jaded beyond her years, she thought her internship with scientist Kate Spelling would be an easy 6 college credits. However, she’s been stuck for months in »

Yesterday Natalie Portman let slip that her pal Kat Dennings was joining her in the cast of Thor. Speculation ran rife on the interwebs as to who she was playing, with /Film suggesting a list of possibilities, ranging from rogue Norse goddesses to the younger sister of Portman’s character.
While we would love to see Dennings strapping on armour and fighting against Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, nearly as much as we’d love to see her role around in mud and scrap with Portman, we don’t think it’ll happen. In fact, there may be a far more mundane possibility.
Way back at the beginning of last month Spoiler TV published a casting call for Thor, for the role of “Warriors”:
“[Warriors] A fearless warrior race, where size, strength and ferocity define a member’s rank in both the social and military hierarchy. Warriors born in this society »

During a promotional interview with MTV for new film Brothers (directed by six-time Academy Award nominee Jim Sheridan) Natalie Portman revealed that Kat Dennings (Defendor, The 40 Year Old Virgin) will be joining her onscreen in Kenneth Branagh’s live-action adaptation of Marvel’s Thor. When asked about the upcoming production, Portman said:
“Well I’m really excited. Kat Dennings is going to be in it with me and she’s a good friend and an amazing actress, so I’m looking forward to that.”
Dennings is the fifth new cast member revealed to be joining Thor in the past six days along with Idris Elba, Tadanobu Asano, Ray Stevenson, and Stuart Townsend. Unlike the others however, the character she will play has not yet been announced.
If you are a Us based reader you can watch the interview over at MTV.

This weekend, Natalie Portman said that she was excited to be working with her friend Kat Dennings on Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of Marvel’s Thor, and so the cast of the highly-anticipated superhero movie continues to grow. In the past week alone we’ve heard about the casting of Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson, and Tadanobu Asano as the Warriors Three and Idris Elba as Heimdall. Now we’ve learned that busty hottie Kat Dennings will be in the film. Hit the jump and wonder if we’ll be hearing more casting tomorrow. Thor was created in 1962 so I’m sure there are some more characters they could squeeze in there.
Speaking with Natalie Portman over the weekend, MTV learned that Portman’s friend and Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist star Kat Dennings would have a role in the film although that role remains unknown. Looking through the list »

In talking with MTV, actress Natalie Portman spilled the beans on yet another actress who will be joining the cast of Marvel's Thor for director Kenneth Branagh. According to Portman, who will star as Jane Foster, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist star Kat Dennings will be joining the cast in an undisclosed role. "I'm really excited," Portman told MTV News. "Kat Dennings is going to be in it with me and she's a good friend and an amazing actress, so I'm looking forward to that." It is likely that Dennings will play another member of the hospital staff around nurse Jane Foster, who in the comics is employed by Dr. Donald Blake (the Earth identity of Thor). But nothing has yet been set, as this is the first we're hearing about Dennings' involvement. Dennings not only joins Portman, but also Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins and the trio of actors (Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson »

Kenneth Branagh'S Thor movie for Marvel Studios is gearing up to start filming in mid-January, with enthusiastic superhero fans already anticipating it will thunder into the box office with all the mighty power of Mjolnir.
The film will be based on Marvel's comic book version of the Norse deity and the publisher's own staff are equally excited about the film.
Marvel writer Brian Michael Bendis has visited the set and said via Twitter: "Thor movie meeting with Ken Branagh was over the top amazing. Visited the sets! I was in Odin's chamber!"
Bendis had last month described Thor as an "extravaganza" and said Branagh's take on the story was "Shakespearean."
And Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada said on his Twitter page: "I could listen to Branagh talk about Thor all day long. Cast is in place, sets are being built and screenplay is brilliant. Marveldom rules!"
Meanwhile, Natalie Portman, who will play Jane Foster, »
