I never had the opportunity of personally meeting Lynne but her sister (Mitchelleana) is a very close friend of my family. Matter of fact, she (Mitchelleana) is our CPA.
Her husband notified me almost immediately after receiving the news concerning the death of his sister-in-law. Everyone here in Joliet is very shocked to hear of the passing of Lynne Thigpen. My wife (who is a native of Joliet) has known the family for years.
It is also unfortunate that Lynne & Mitchelleana's parents passed away in the month of March as well - two years apart (March '92 & March '94).
I was over her sister's house last night and had the opportunity of viewing such works of Lynne as: "Godspell" and "Lean on Me".
Lynne's family is deeply spiritual (born again Christians)and are taking courage in the Lord during this sudden tragedy.
The cause of Lynne's death was a heart attack. Her boyfriend stated that she complained of neck pains earlier in the evening. She passed away Thursday morning at about 4:00am (CST).
Lynne was scheduled to visit her sister here in Joliet next month (April '93) for a week before heading to New York. I was to have the honor of personally meeting her at that time.
Her funeral (homegoing) services will be here in Joliet,Illinois on Wedneday evening, March 19th, at 8:00pm at the new: All Nations Church of God in Christ.
We are assured that Lynne is in heaven - and we appreciate the Lord allowing the world to be blessed with such a beautiful person (and actress) as Lynne Thigpen. Joliet will miss her!
