'Smallville' Brings On Another Hero Full Time

14 June 2008 7:31 AM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

The following contains Minor Spoilers for Season 8 of The CW show "Smallville." In the wake of the cast exodus from "Smallville," fans of the series have something to be thankful for ... the full-time addition of DC Comics hero the Green Arrow. The emerald clad archer -- played by Justin Hartley -- will be appearing on a permanent basis in the eighth season of the superhero series in an attempt to bring a familiar face to the series, especially due to the many changes the show will go through next year. However, unlike the previous Green Arrow story lines, the new episodes of "Smallville" will focus more on Ollie's mysterious billionaire past instead of his twilight identity as a fully-formed superhero. At the end of the seventh season, both Michael Rosenbaum and Kristen Kreuk (Lex Luthor ...

Rosenbaum To Leave Smallville

2 May 2008 9:15 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Actor Michael Rosenbaum is set to leave the cast of Smallville at the end of the U.S. TV series' current season.

Rosenbaum, who plays Superman's arch enemy Lex Luthor, has been with the show since it began in 2001 - but has decided to pursue other projects.

In a joint statement, the show's executive producers Darren Swimmer, Todd Slavkin, Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson said, "It has been an honour and pleasure to work with Michael for the past six seasons.

"He is one of the best actors on television and has never failed to bring a new layer to the character of Lex Luthor in every episode.

"While Michael won't be a series regular and we won't have the pleasure of working with him on a weekly basis this fall, we like to think that we haven't seen the last of Lex Luthor. Stay tuned."

Meanwhile, the 35-year-old has penned a handwritten note to thank the show's cast, crew and fans.

The actor, who has played Superman's archenemy Lex Luthor since 2001, said he wanted to start a "new chapter" in his career.

Two new villains are currently being cast for season eight of the show.

Rosenbaum said: "It is time for me to start the next chapter of my life and career. I hope that I gave you some enjoyment over the years, and that you found my portrayal of Lex Luthor to be satisfying."

The 35-year-old revealed last year that he intended to leave at the end of the current run, but executive producers hinted that he may still make the occasional appearance in what is rumoured to be the final season.

They said in a statement: . . .

Michael Rosenbaum 'Elm Street' Rumor False

25 February 2008 8:38 PM, PST | From bloody-disgusting.com | See recent Bloody-Disgusting.com news

Before this rumor spreads like wildfire we're going to put it out. Cinema Blend reported that Michael Rosenbaum has been "lunching" with Michael Bay and implies that this means that the "Smallville" star is in talks to play Freddy Krueger in Platinum Dunes' remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. How two people having lunch turns into a casting speculation is hilarious to me, especially when Platinum Dunes is casting two other movies at the moment. But back on track, we checked our sources and have confirmed that this news is 100% pure Bs - even to the extent that Michael Bay has Not has lunch with Rosenbaum. Worst rumor of the year so far. Keep 'em coming.
