In some fantastic news (Thanks for the tip, Jenni!), The Runaways has a premiere date at Sundance this year, which means that (hopefully) national distribution won't be far behind. The 2010 Sundance Film Festival runs January 21-31 in Park City, Salt Lake City, which isn't too far away, when you consider how long I've been waiting to see Kristen Stewart in action as Joan Jett.
Also making its debut at Sundance is Bran Nue Dae, a musical film starring bisexual musician Missy Higgins.
Liz Feldman made a guest appearance on The Today Show this morning as a "weather apprentice" and told the audience, "It looks like there's gonna be some sunshine, and the sun's gonna be wearing sunglasses!" She creeped out Al Roker by hugging him against his will ("It's like hugging a teddy bear that's lost all it's stuffing."). As Feldman herself said on the show, "Nailed it!"

We know it's not exactly horror, but when Trembles speaks, we listen! And when Werner Herzog directs Nicolas Cage, we can't help but watch transfixed.
Here's a quick synopsis of the flick: Terence McDonagh (Cage) is a drug- and gambling-addled detective in post-Katrina New Orleans investigating the killing of five Senegalese immigrants. With a cast that also includes Val Kilmer, Eva Mendes, Jennifer Coolidge, Fairuza Balk, Brad Dourif, and Michael Shannon, what's not to love?

Nicolas Cage’s 2007 hit “Ghost Rider” may have made $115 million, but two years later it seems to be existing in that same state of Hollywood limbo as barely-blockbusters like “The Sum of All Fears,” “Hairspray,” or “The Italian Job” — sequel rumors pop up, but there’s some doubt whether one would cement a bigger “Bourne”-like box-office increase, or a “Tomb Raider”-esque over-anticipation of demand. And despite reports of movement on David Goyer's "Ghost Rider" sequel script, Cage says he’s the wrong person to ask these days for updates.
“You probably know more about it then I do,” laughed the veteran actor when asked about the project. “What have you read?"
Cage said he hadn’t heard anything about Goyer's sequel — which is set 10 years after the first film — and is afraid to comment on his future with the character these days.

With the decade coming to a close at the end of the year, it's time to take stock. Here is a list of the biggest financial flops of 2000's first decade. #10: 2008's "The Spirit". With a price tag of $60 million, graphic novelist Frank Miller's movie took in barely a third of that, despite a fabulous cast that included Eva Mendes, Scarlett Johansson and Spain's Paz Vega. #9: The ambitious but too-pointed 1970¹s B-movie homage "Grindhouse". The movie made only $25 million but cost $67 million, which tainted maker Quentin Tarantino a loser in 2007. Meanwhile, America's enfant terrible has redeemed himself with "Inglourious Basterds". #9: The remake of the 1970's classic, "Rollerball", released in 2002. $70 million price tag, $19 million in sales. The failure seems to have tanked the career of formerly success director John McTiernan, who later got 4 months for lying to the FBI in the Anthony Pellicano affair. #7: "The Invasion »

Eva Mendes has turned her back on fur after learning how animals are killed for their pelts - and now she's fronting a hard-hitting new PETA video about the horrors of the trade.
The sexy star admits she once wore fur to a Hollywood event, but she'll never repeat her mistake.
And, by way of repenting, she's hosting a new Internet expose about the fur industry.
The film includes the latest investigation of fur farms and markets in China, the world's largest fur exporter.
Mendes tells WENN, "Millions of animals are killed for their pelts each year... I didn't always know how animals were killed for their fur, and I even wore fur once myself.
"When I learned how cruel the fur industry is - and that there are no laws protecting these animals - I swore that I'd never wear it again. Please join me today as we go behind the scenes of the international fur trade, and find out how you can look glamorous without supporting animal suffering."
Mendes admits she has become a leading celebrity animal rights advocate after her pet dog Hugo came into her life.
She explains, "It literally changed my life, getting my dog. Every choice that I make, I always think about my little Hugo and think, 'God, would I eat him? Would I cage him up? Would I skin him?' No, of course not."
Mendes joins a growing list of celebrities fronting various PETA anti-fur campaigns - they include Charlize Theron, Christina Applegate, Roselyn Sanchez, Pamela Anderson, Nia Long, and Christy Turlington. »
