Jigsaw and his legacy will continue on in 3D when Lionsgate releases Saw VII on October 22, 2010, keeping in line with the "if it's Halloween, it must be Saw " campaign.
Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton return to write with David Hackl back in the director's chair.
I think it's safe to presume Tobin Bell and Costas Mandylor will return to reprise their roles as Jigsaw and Hoffman, respectively.
As always, keep it here for the latest on this lucrative franchise

Saw VI didn't exactly live up to box office expectations, but that hasn't stopped Lionsgate from grabbing October 22, 2010 for Saw VII. Saw VII is already in pre-production, with David Hackl returning from Saw V to direct a script from Saw IV, V, and VI screenwriters Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton.
Saw VII will follow the twisted adventures of Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor), with Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) returning in flashbacks. Bell already has an idea of what Jigsaw in 3-D will be like.

You got excited just reading that, didn't you? Twisted Pictures has announced that the seventh installment of the beaten to death franchise will be released on October 22, 2010 (of course). As previously announced, it will also be in 3D. Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, the writers of part six, will be back again as will the director of part five, David Hackl. Costas Mandylor who has played Hoffman since part three, has also been announced as returning. Don't be surprised if you hear from us about Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith returning for flashbacks. He's hoping this is the last nail in John Kramer's coffin, but probably not.

In spite of less than thrilling box office numbers (its current worldwide gross is still less than the last entry's opening weekend with only $26 million), Twisted Pictures forges ahead with Saw VII ( Saw 7 ) in 3-D. And today, Lionsgate has claimed an October 22, 2010 release date.
The next entry is written by returning screenwriters Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. David Hackl is back in the director's chair. He helmed Saw V .
Costas Mandylor will be back as Hoffman and you can probably presume Tobin Bell shall return for more Jigsaw flashbacks. Start your theories as to where the story will turn now!

If It's Halloween... It Might Not Be Saw Anymore!

"It's it's Halloween... It must be Saw!" is how Lionsgate has touted the latest sequels in the Saw franchise the past few years. They might need a new tagline when Saw VII in 3D comes out next year. This year, if it's Halloween... It must be Paranormal Activity. And a concert film starring a freaky looking dead guy. Not to mention Law Abiding Citizen and Couples Retreat, both of which easily outgrossed Saw VI.
After last weekend's disappointing opening, Saw VI dropped nearly a whopping 61% over the Halloween weekend box office, taking in a paltry estimated $5.56 million (per Box Office Mojo). The usually dependable horror franchise has yet to even surpass the miserable remake of The Stepfather in total box office. Could it be that audiences have finally tired of Jigsaw's games? Could it be that even the most die-hard followers cannot stand the Costas Mandylor-ing of their franchise?

Saw 6 Review

Has there ever been a movie franchise as user-friendly as the “Saw” films? “Saw VI,” the latest installment, may have a new director (Kevin Greutert), but the writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, collaborating on their third consecutive “Saw,” make sure that it’s as customer-service-oriented as ever.
Somewhere within the Saw universe’s ridiculously convoluted back story is a film showing how the dying “Jigsaw Killer” John Kramer (Tobin Bell) won the lottery, set up corporate offices, and hired legions of worker elves to build a “torture district” the size of Disneyland. It would be a helluva lot more entertaining than watching his uber-secret second protégé (Mandylor, Mandylor, Costas Mandylor) tiptoe around the events of the previous films, which was all that the abysmal Saw V really had to offer…read more [DreadCentral]
I really don’t want to talk about the plot, because if you’ve seen a few of these films,

‘Saw VI’ Movie Delivered More Guts Gore And Brutality

Lionsgate's new "Saw VI" movie delivered more guts, gore, and brutality,as they released the 6th installment of this ever-going franchise this weekend. It stars : Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Betsy Russell, Mark Rolston, Peter Outerbridge, Shawnee Smith, Samantha Lemole, Caroline Cave, George Newbern, Darius McCrary, Shauna MacDonald, Devon Bostick, and Tanedra Howard.
"Saw VI" continued where it left off in "Saw V," with Hoffman watching Agent Peter Strahm get crushed after tricking him. However, it did start off with another vicious Jigsaw game that involved a guy cutting out his guts, and a woman chopping off her arm to save her life.
Detectives from the past were brought back to figure out the continuing Jigsaw murders.Unfortunately, they didn't survive long, once Hoffman figured out they were on to him.

Saw VI
Directed by: Kevin Greutert
Cast: Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Mark Rolston, Shawnee Smith
Running Time: 1 hr 30 mins
Rating: R
Release Date: October 23, 2009
Plot: Jigsaw blah blah blah death traps and torture blah blah blah sixth installment in the horror series.
Who’S It For? Now that a sixth one has dropped into theatres, outsiders aren’t very likely – one either likes these things or they don’t. That being said, the Saw movies are increasingly becoming an inside joke to their horror-ibly misguided fans. Here’s hoping that even they are getting tired of the same wasteful experiences.
Overall
Since Saw VI does not act like a real movie, I will not treat it like one. And I would compare Saw VI with the act of going to the bathroom, but I’ll leave that type of mindset to our almighty Poovie thread.
I am sick.

The players: Director: Kevin Greutert, Writers: Marcus Dunstan, Patrick Melton, Cast: Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Mark Rolston, Betsy Russell, Shawnee Smith
Facts of interest: None.
The plot: When the FBI draws closer to Hoffman, he is forced to set a game into motion, and Jigsaw's grand scheme is finally understood.
Our thoughts: Kevin Greutert’s “Saw VI” definitely fails to revitalize the popular big-screen horror series, but as far as I’m concerned, it’s not as bad an installment as its two most recent predecessors. One thing is for certain though: this sixth film is still bloody and gives cinemagoers a better insight into Jigsaw’s entire scheme.

Saw VI
Studio: Lionsgate
Rated: R for sequences of grisly bloody violence, torture and language.
Starring: Costas Mandylor, Mark Rolston, Betsy Russell, Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith
Directed by: Kevin Greutert
What it’s about: This sixth installment of the popular horror franchise sees Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) continuing the work of the serial killer Jigsaw (Tobin Bell). However, even with a new game targeting a greedy insurance tycoon afoot, there’s more surprises for Hoffman from the police and from beyond the grave of Jigsaw.
What I liked: Unlike many critics, I have really enjoyed the Saw franchise, and this film is a worthy successor. If you’re looking for gore and violence, you’ll get plenty of that. But also, if you’re looking for a film that gives more twists and turns in the already complex story arc, you’ll get that as well.
Like the other sequels, Saw VI
