Trivia

Born at 12:07pm-PDT

According to an item in Time Magazine (April 20, 1959), Horton had chest-waist-hips measurements of 42-31-40

Stars of those western TV series in the 1950s and 1960s often had a "beefcake bondage" scene where they were staked out in the desert or tied up and whipped. Only Robert Horton did it both ways. In a "Wagon Train" (1957) episode from 1-15-58 titled "The Gabe Carswell Story", Horton found himself staked out under a scorching sun and left to die by a vengeful "half-breed". In a "Wagon Train" (1957) episode from 12-13-61 called "The Traitor", Horton gets tied to the side of a wagon and whipped across the back for allegedly stealing a horse.

Aside from being staked-out and horsewhipped, he suffered a third torture on "Wagon Train" (1957). In the 30 December 1959 episode called "The Ruth Marshall Story", he's hanged by his wrists from a horizontal pole in an Indian village and left to dangle with his feet about 8 inches off the ground. Horton's shirt has been removed for the apparent reason of exploiting his hairy chest's "beefcake" appeal.
