Silvio Horta: 'Ugly Betty' A Lot Less Ugly

With change comes even more change, and Ugly Betty is starting to prove how much it's gone through for this season. Even though there's a significant drop in ratings for the show, there's still some fight left in it to survive the move to Friday nights. It's probably because series creator Silvio Horta and his ideas for the show's growth.
Horta explained to TV Guide how Betty's character has been changing over the seasons. This time, it was a big decision to take up her physical appearance at last. However, it doesn't seem like it's going to end there if the show is indeed given more time.

Adam Lambert (Sort Of) Kissed A Girl ... And No One Could Stop Talking About It
The big gay news of the week is that one big gay icon did something not so gay and set the gay blogosphere abuzz. That's right, Adam Lambert posed for some racy pictures with a nekkid girl and the reaction of our readers was all over the place as demonstrated by the nearly 70 comments folks posted. Our follow-up poll the next day registered nearly 2,000 votes and generated another 50+ comments.
As for the poll results — it was a dead heat with 41% of folks loving the pics and 41% saying "Ew" and believing that someone was trying to give Adam a "hetero" make-over. I'll say one thing; you folks had a ton of passionate, mostly articulate things to say about the topic.

Ugly Betty creator Silvio Horta is staying tight-lipped about whether Betty will eventually get together with Daniel. In an interview with TV Guide, Horta seemed to backtrack on a previous statement in which he said the characters would not become a couple. "At this point, I actually know what's going to happen. I thought I knew when I made that quote, but you re-evaluate and reassess. What I said before may or may not still be true," he commented. Horta also confirmed there is to be a love triangle between Betty, Matt and another mystery character. "Ugly Betty" is about to get a lot more beautiful. Shakira will play herself in an upcoming episode of the ABC comedy.
"We're huge fans of Shakira," show creator Silvio Horta told People, adding that the cameo springs from a moment in the show's first season. "We had a very memorable moment in the third episode where Betty has a makeover that goes wrong and she struts down the street to 'Hips Don't Lie.' "

TVGuide has confirmed that famous songstress Shakira will appear on "The Bahamas Triangle", an episode of America Ferrera's "Ugly Betty" which is scheduled to be aired in November. Set to portray herself, she will fly to the Bahamas to shoot some of her scenes. She is going to become the key to helping a Mode photo shoot get back on the track when the magazine is on location in the Bahamas.

Shakira, and her honest hips, will soon give acting a shot.
Ugly Betty creator, Silvio Horta says the singer will appear on an episode of the ABC hit this fall, telling People:
“We had a very memorable moment in the third episode where Betty has a makeover that goes wrong and she struts down the street to ‘Hips Don’t Lie.’ We’ve mentioned [Shakira] several times over the course of the series and have always wanted to work with her. She’s an enormous Latina icon, as is Betty, and we thought it was a perfect fit.”
On the episode titled “The Bahamas Triangle," Shakira will assist a Mode photo shoot when the publication is on location in the tropics. Christie Brinkley will also appear during this installment, portraying the editor of a competing fashion magazine.

Entering its fourth season, "Ugly Betty" is still nowhere near pretty. America Ferrera was spotted filming an outdoor scene on Tuesday, August 25 with a giant hotdog as her costume. She was accompanied on the lower Manhattan set by Michael Urie who became the hotdog bun.
Daily Mail reported that the costume was uncomfortable enough to cause Ferrera pulling angry faces during the filming. Furthermore, due to the complication of the outfit, the actress asked her assistant to feed her banana during the break between scenes.
After nearly being canceled, "Ugly Betty" is to premiere on October 9. Paula Abdul has retracted from being a guest star reportedly due to some demands which are not met. Betty Suarez, the character which is portrayed by America Ferrera on "Ugly Betty", probably gets a makeover on the series' 4th season. ABC, according to Entertainment Weekly, has asked "a round of focus groups" to change the appearance of the show's leading character.
The execs of the TV station will show Suarez's new look in the early of the upcoming season, which will be premiered later this year. In a scene, she will sport a Chanel-esque pastel pink suit. Then, in another scene, the Mode's new associate features editor will don a black short-sleeved dress matched with a ruffled V-neck.
"She looks a lot classier, but she's still far from perfect," an executive says. After showing off the new look, the station plans to ask fans whether Suarez's transformation is appropriate or not, Entertainment Weekly reports.

ABC is pretty serious about the extreme makeover it's giving Ugly Betty. According to my sources, the network is going so far as to conduct a round of focus groups this week to get feedback on the heroine's season 4 metamorphosis. In particular, execs are showing test audiences two scenes from early in the season, both featuring a newly glamorized Betty working at her new job as Mode's associate features editor. In one, she's rocking a Chanel-esque pastel pink suit; in the other, she’s sporting a short-sleeved black dress with a ruffled V-neck. ABC unveiled its 2009-2010 primetime schedule this morning and here is the full press release:
Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment Group, today outlined ABC's plans for next season and unveiled the network's 2009-10 fall schedule before the advertising and media communities at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall.
New fall and midseason series include "Cougar Town," "The Deep End," "Eastwick," "Flash Forward," "The Forgotten," "Hank," "Happy Town," "The Middle," "Modern Family," "Shark Tank" and "V."
