The Mentalist enlists a new boss

30 November 2009 7:34 AM, PST | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

There's a new Jane joining The Mentalist, a Jane of the female variety. Aunjanue Ellis will be the new CBI head on CBS's The Mentalist, attempting to reign in the unconventional -- yet highly productive -- antics of Patrick Jane.

Ellis will be a new character -- still unnamed -- who is assuming the leadership position left vacant when Virgil Minelli resigned. Minelli was played by Gregory Itzin, who is returning to 24 to resume the role of disgraced former president Charles Logan.

Minelli's exit has already been set up on the show; he announced his resignation following the Red John instigated bloodbath in the Cbi offices that resulted in Bosco's death and two other agents. In the last episode, Minelli assumed responsibility for the deaths and the breach in security.

Channel Surfing: USA Overhauls Its Schedule, Aunjanue Ellis Takes on "The Mentalist," "Big Love," BBC Confirms "Doctor Who" Dates, and More

30 November 2009 7:25 AM, PST | Televisionary | See recent Televisionary news »

Welcome to your Monday morning television briefing. For those of you Stateside, hope that you're feeling rested (and hopefully recovering from a few days of gluttony) after the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Major changes afoot at USA, according to The Futon Critic's Brian Ford Sullivan. Rather than follow the plans the cabler had outlined for January, USA has chosen to revise its entire schedule, moving its series White Collar, Burn Notice, and Psych onto separate evenings, come January. White Collar will return to the lineup on January 19th, where it will move into its new timeslot of Tuesday evenings at 10 pm Et/Pt. Meanwhile, Psych will take over the Wednesday night slot beginning January 27th and Burn Notice will remain on Thursdays, returning with new episodes on January 21st. The move gives the cabler original series on three weeknights. Perhaps a ploy to lure viewers from broadcast sibling NBC to some scripted fare at 10 pm? »

Aunjanue Ellis: The New Boss on The Mentalist

30 November 2009 5:47 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Rip, Sam Bosco.

Terry Kinney's character was killed off The Mentalist two weeks; but the CBS drama is wasting no time in finding a new character to come on board the show.

Aunjanue Ellis has joined the cast of the hit series in a recurring role. She'll portray the new head of the California Bureau of Investigation, installed following the death of Bosco and the resignation of the unit's supervisor, Virgil Minelli.

Ellis is a veteran of the small screen.

She's most recently been seen on episodes of The Good Wife and True Blood and will premiere on The Mentalist in early 2010. »

Michael Imperioli: An Original Portrait

24 September 2009 12:44 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

To benefit Golden Bridge for Tibet, Michael Imperioli held a preview screening last week of his new film "The Hungry Ghosts." On behalf of 'Golden Bridge', Tibetan Lama Namkha Rinpoche spoke to an audience that included "Sopranos" family members Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Robert Iler, and Lorraine Bracco among others. Michael Imperioli is unquestionably an enormously impressive and engaging actor. In fact, he's a great actor. With "The Hungry Ghosts" he adds writer/director to his resume and pulls masterful performances from Steven R. Schirripa, Sharon Angela, Nick Sandow, and Aunjanue Ellis. I asked Imperioli to sit for my Huffington Post portrait series, and to write a few words about his new film "The Hungry Ghosts". The screenplay of "The Hungry Ghosts" was written in the Fall of 2007 and by the Spring of 2008... »

Emerging Narratives, Represent.

18 September 2009 7:38 AM, PDT | Filmmaker Magazine - Blog | See recent Filmmaker Magazine news »

I'm Melissa B. Miller the producer of The Tested which is part of the Emerging Narratives section at Independent Film Week. We completed the lab in June and are still absorbing all the wisdom, guidance, and feedback that was so generously handed down to us, so I anticipate by December, I'll have a clear understanding of everything I'll have experienced this week. I've been a consistent introverted extrovert my whole life so taking meetings and socializing continues to be an agonizing pleasure for me. I'm extremely proud of The Tested, so atleast I know that when I talk about it, it will be from the heart. The film, starring Aunjanue Ellis, Armando Riesco, and Frank Vincent, is about a plain clothes cop, who guns down an unarmed teen. ... »

Three New Clips and a Featurette from The Taking of Pelham 123

1 June 2009 8:05 AM, PDT | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Not all the action in The Taking of Pelham 123 takes place down in the subway or in the offices of the Mta. Three new clips from the movie show off some intense car chase scenes, as well as the more personal negotiations between the amateur hostage negotiator Garber (Denzel Washington) and his wife (Aunjanue Ellis) as he prepares to head into danger.

There's also a new featurette that descends back into "the darkness and the grittiness of the bowels of New York" for some commentary by director Tony Scott and the cast on the the film's other star, the subway itself.
