Trivia

Son of Actress Shirley Jones and actor Jack Cassidy

Brother of Shaun Cassidy and Ryan Cassidy, and half brother of actor David Cassidy

Patrick had focused on football and possibly college as the star quarterback for Beverly Hills High School in 1979. However, when he broke his collarbone early in the season of his senior year, he looked into the drama department and started his career.

Played the role of "Frederic" in the 1981 Joseph Papp production of "The Pirates of Penzance" longer than any other actor.

Mother Shirley Jones was pregnant with him while filming The Music Man (1962). Nobody knew she was pregnant until the footbridge scene, where Robert Preston had his arms around her and Patrick kicked him!

Starred opposite Cheryl Ladd in the Broadway production of "Annie Get Your Gun". [2000-2001]

Middle name William comes from his paternal grandfather.

Children by wife Melissa Hurley: Cole Patrick Cassidy (b. 31 July 1995) and Jack Gordon Cassidy (b. 16 August 1998)

He and brothers Shaun Cassidy and Ryan Cassidy were delivered via Cesarean section.

He and his mother Shirley Jones were the first mother-son combination to work together in a Broadway musical when they took the respective roles of Julian Marsh and Dorothy Brock in "42nd Street" on May 7, 2004.

He and wife Melissa, plus their two sons, made a family affair of it when Patrick returned to the stage in the title role of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" in 2006, first appearing in the role back in 1999. Melissa was featured as the seductive Mrs. Potiphar and the children (ages 10 and 7) appeared in the children's chorus.

He also starred in the 1980 Beverly Hills High School production of "The Music Man", which also included Gina Gershon. Patrick played a traveling salesman. He pursued the role after breaking his collarbone as the school's star quarterback, ending the season early for him and changing his focus.

Along with Dean Cain, Michael McKean and Richard Gant, he is one of only four actors to appear in both "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" (1993) and "Smallville" (2001).
