In today's issue of Entertainment Weekly, you can find a teaser image from Friday The 13th and our first peek at Derek Mears as Jason Voorhees!!! Judging from the image, it looks like we're getting pre-"zombie" Jason ala Friday The 13th 3 and 4! (Which I'm all for!) Check out the image below!

The new Friday The 13th directed by Marcus Nispel and written by Damian Shannon & Mark Swift (Freddy Vs Jason) stars Jared Padalecki (Supernatural), Derek Mears (Hills Have Eyes 2), Amanda Righetti, Danielle Panabaker, Travis Van Winkle, Aaron Yoo, Adam Finberg, Nick Mennell (Rob Zombie's Halloween), Jonathan Sadowski, Nana Visitor, Arlen Escarpeta, Ryan Hansen, Richard Burgi, Julianna Guill and Willa Ford. It opens in theaters on Friday February 13th, 2009!

Entertainment Weekly recently conducted an interview with Michael Bay to touch base on Transformers 2 and the Friday The 13th remake, which Bay is producing under his Platinum Dunes banner. Here's the Friday The 13th highlights!

You recently wrapped production on your update of Friday the 13th, and horror buffs out there are dying to know: what's it going to be about?

It’s a reconception of the original. We’re introducing a whole group of new kids. What we always try to do is add a little bit of freshness to these movies that were really scary back then and update them for a new audience.

So are you following the same plot as the very first Friday the 13th?

It’s a little different. I don’t want to give it away because of the Internet crazies.

B-d Reader 'Bert H.' dropped us an e-mail, which we quickly confirmed, that Richard Burgi (Hostel: Part II, pictured inside) is heading out to Austin, Texas in the next couple days for a small role in Platinum Dunes' Friday the 13. Apparently he plays "a sheriff" in the remake, which is aiming for release on (you guessed it) Fridday, February 13, 2009. Directed by Marcus Nispel from a screenplay by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, the film stars Jared Padalecki, Derek Mears, Amanda Righetti, Danielle Panabaker, Aaron Yoo, Travis Van Winkle, Willa Ford, Nick Mennell, Jonathan Sadowski, Nana Visitor, Arlen Escarpeta, Ryan Hansen and Julianna Guill.
