Hollywood insiders have labelled Julia Roberts' speech at this year's Oscars disrespectful. Juila presented the Best Actor award to Denzel Washington, who she had openly campaigned for, and made no secret of her delight when the Training Day star won. But Movie bosses are seething that she was so biased towards her The Pelican Brief co-star. One source says, "We all know how she feels about Denzel, but the Oscar ceremony was not the place to show it. It was just very disrespectful to the other nominees, as well as their fans." Roberts has also been criticized for making a joke that fell flat after she mixed up some names. The actress said she was glad that Tom Conti wasn't around this year, confusing the actor with Bill Conti, the orchestra leader who she referred to as "stick man" last year - when he tried to cut off her speech. Another source says, "When she said 'Tom Conti' everyone looked at each other like, 'What did Tom Conti do to Julia?' Then everyone realized she meant Bill Conti and there was some embarrassed laughter." Roberts' spokeswoman couldn't be reached for comment.
