For baby name purists the search for the perfect moniker often begins and ends with the Bible. Featuring countless names that have endured for thousands of years, it is the epitome of traditional — offering time-honored appeal to both celebrities and non-celebrities alike.
Nameberry.com co-founder Linda Rosenkrantz notes that biblical names claim the top five spots on the Most Popular list for boys. What’s more, she points out, “there’s been an Old Testament name at #1 for the past 55 years, when New Testament classics like John and James started to lose their lead.”

After months of network hype and mediocre anticipation, the new Melrose Place debuted last night. Like last season's 90210 update, a couple original castmembers came along for the ride. Does this new version have a chance of sticking around as long as the original?
The first Melrose Place began as a Fox spin-off of the successful Beverly Hills, 90210 series in 1992. It revolves around a group of apartment complex residents played by Thomas Calabro, Josie Bissett, Andrew Shue), Courtney Thorne-Smith, Grant Show, Doug Savant, Vanessa A. Williams, and Amy Locane. The show wasn't an immediate success and didn't start to really gain steam until Heather Locklear joined the regular cast as ambitious Amanda Woodward in season two. The campy drama went through a lot of cast changes over the years and finally ended after seven seasons in 1999.

Don't expect to see Marcia Cross ringing the doorbell at the newly renovated Melrose Place anytime soon. In addition to having a good home on Wisteria Lane, the Desperate Housewives denizen admits she hasn't been asked and, well, her plate is pretty full. "I'm really busy," she told E! News today at an event at St. Aloysius School in Harlem for Mott's Wake-Up Call America. "I say never say never, but it's not the first thing on my mind." No, you're not crazy. That sense of déjà vu comes thanks to former original Melrose Place inhabitant Courtney Thorne-Smith saying exactly the same thing yesterday. That wasn't all the ravishing redhead had to... »

Will the new Melrose Place (Ashlee Simpson-Wentz included, natch) feature some old-timers? While Heather Locklear may be having conversations with producers to return as witch-in-heels Amanda Woodward, it's unclear who else may or may not have already been approached for a resurrection. "I think it's really for the younger generation," Courtney Thorne-Smith, who played Allison Parker on MP, told us yesterday at the John Varvatos seventh annual Stuart House benefit in West Hollywood. "I don't think there's much place for us old folks." But that doesn't mean Thorne-Smith wouldn't consider an offer if one came through. "It's not something I'm looking... »

Nothing says the '90s like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Titanic, Sleepless in Seattle, Friends, and Melrose Place. They all have a distinct place in history, and now one of them is about to make a comeback. Are you ready for a new version of Melrose Place?
As was originally reported here in October 2008, the CW wants to bring back the successful nighttime soap, hoping that it will surpass the initial success of the 90210 remake. The move isn't much of a surprise considering that Melrose was a spin-off of the original Beverly Hills, 90210.
The first question on everyone's minds is who of the original Melrose cast will be making a return to the West Hollywood apartment complex. Names that immediately come to mind are Heather Locklear, Grant Show, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Rob Estes, Andrew Shue, Josie Bisset, and Jack Wagner.
Some of the original stars have been up front, willfully admitting they »

CSI: Miami star Eva La Rue has become the latest celebrity to fall victim of the marriage magazine cover curse - she has called off her nuptials. The twice-wed actress was hoping to make it third time lucky when she exchanged vows with seafood businessman Joe Cappuccio - and cooed about her big plans in the winter 2009 issue of InStyle Wedding.
She also appeared on the cover of the publication, wearing a gown similar to the one she hoped to wear when she became Mrs Cappuccio.
But, like Courtney Thorne-Smith and Kelly Rowland before her, La Rue hasn't been able to make good on her wedding magazine plans - there will be no ceremony.
Speaking to Los Angeles DJ Valentine, the actress reveals, "I got a beautiful ring out of it (and) he was a good guy.
"Everybody's got issues and everybody's got patterns. Our issues and patterns just buttered up against each other... Some people are capable of breaking through these issues and patterns and some people aren't.
"And, when it becomes an issue of commitment... I think they run deep and I should have known it (marriage) wasn't going to come to fruition. You do that girl thing, where you think, 'Maybe I'm different'... I got hurt."
La Rue was previously married to her All My Children co-star John Callahan and actor John O'Hurley. »

After barely escaping cancellation for the last two years, it looks like the network grim reaper has finally caught up with According to Jim. The ABC sitcom is ending its long run at the end of this season. The network hasn't announced it but one of the series stars has.
According to Jim is a lighthearted sitcom that revolves around a suburban father named Jim (Jim Belushi). Though he means well, he often gets into trouble while trying to be the king of his castle, manipulate his beautiful wife Cheryl (Courtney Thorne-Smith), and trying to raise his kids (Taylor Atelian, Billi Bruno, and Conner Rayburn). Adding to his troubles are Cheryl's strong-willed sister, Dana (Kimberly Williams-Paisley), and her hapless brother, Andy (Larry Joe Campbell). Other series performers include Tony Braunagel, John Rubano, Mitch Rouse, and Charlie Hartsock.
The ABC sitcom debuted back in 2001 and averaged 10 million viewers for its freshman year. »
