She moved to Spain with her father and brother in 1976 and started acting. Her first major role was in 'Ivan Zuleta''s _Arrebato (1979)_. She appeared in 'Pedro Almodóvar''s debut feature _Pepi, Luci, Bom y otras chicas del montón (1980)_ and went on playing in the director's Laberinto de pasiones (1982), Entre tinieblas (1983) and _¿Qué he hecho yo para merecer esto?!! (1984)_. In 1995 she moved back to Argentina and became a national star of TV, stage, and film. Besides appearing in the U.S.-coproduced thriller _Stranger, The (1987/I)_, she mostly starred in Argentine films including Un lugar en el mundo (1992), hit detective drama _Cenizas del paraíso (1997)_ and family drama _Martín (Hache) (1997)_, which gained her Spain's Best Actress award. She teamed up with Almodóvar again starring in Todo sobre mi madre (1999).
