One big reason movie studios suffer black eyes from the public is because there's a steady stream of bad sequels. If every follow-up were as good as the last two Bourne movies or The Dark Knight, you'd never hear anybody complain about sequels.
In reality, we're expected to see Another Stake-Out, because the first one was a surprise hit and the producers snagged that up-and-coming Rosie O'Donnell. Or they think that if it was funny when Rick Moranis shrunk the kids, surely there must be something else around the house that can accidentally have its atoms reassigned.
If we love Alien and we love Predator, but we didn't so much love the combination of them, of course we'll line up to see an even less original story two years later! How does it all work? And why has it come to this:
Bull Durham is getting a sequel.

According to the trailer of David Zucker's new comedy, "An American Carol," "America's most infamous filmmaker -- totally arrogant, completely clueless -- [has] finally gone too far." Of course, Zucker, a former liberal activist who became a "9/11 Republican," is referring to Michael Moore, the inspiration for the central character in "An American Carol," one Michael Malone (Kevin Farley), a filmmaker who's visited by three Dickensian ghosts after he demands that July 4th be abolished ("I love America. That's why it needs to be destroyed!").
Zucker's spoof is perhaps the most high-profile film to take on Moore, but it's by no means the first. In fact, in the last four years, Moore's work has inadvertently given birth to an entirely new strain of conservative filmmaking whose sole mission is to discredit him by taking issue with his documentary aesthetic, his politics, his personal success, even his physical appearance.

When you think "Dan Aykroyd" what springs to mind? Ghostbusters? Obviously. Blues Brothers? Of course. His knockout performance as Britney Spears' father in Crossroads? Probably not. But after enduring the following 8-minute infomercial, your perception of Dan Aykroyd will be forever altered. No longer will he be ghostbuster, or blues brother, or Britney's dad, or paranormal-themed anthology show host, or undercover cop at a sex resort with Rosie O'Donnell. After you click play and absorb this infomercial, when you think "Dan Aykroyd" only one image will come to mind: A crystal skull filled with vodka. (via Bwe) Wow. If there was an award for Hardest Vodka Sell (Novelty Bottle Category), Dan Aykroyd would definitely win. I didn't know that...

When I first heard about Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer (review), I thought the film was going to be about a psychopath hunting down the likes of Rosie O'Donnell or Ulli Lommel. My mistake, but Jon Knautz did something neither of those two could do: entertain!
Jack Brooks will be hitting stores on October 7th, and to help build the hype for that day, Anchor Bay will be screening the flick with a follow-up Q&A at Fantastic Fest! On September 20th, starting at 11:55 PM, you can catch star Trevor Matthews and filmmaker Jon Knautz at:
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema South Lamar 2
1120 South Lamar Blvd
Austin, TX 78704
In case you can't make it to the event, you can always pre-order Jack Brooks from the Evilshop!

While the interweb runs rampant with outlandish casting rumours surrounding the follow up to Chris Nolan's The Dark Knight (Rosie O'Donnell as Clayface?) most have chosen to ignore the fact that Nolan himself has not even signed on for the third installment. I guess it's just assumed that 500 million domestically and counting means "f*ck yeah let's do it again!" Apparently not. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nolan, who is on a much needed vacay, has yet to commit to the...

Ford turned down the classic part of Archie Bunker's son-in-law, Michael "Meathead" Stivic, which ended up becoming Rob Reiner's breakout role.
And Rosie O'Donnell almost landed in our living room on a daily basis as Jerry Seinfeld's female best friend, Elaine Benes, on "Seinfeld," the character Julia Louis-Dreyfus nailed.

TV host Rosie O'Donnell has laughed off reports she is splitting up with girlfriend Kelli Carpenter - and has slammed the journalist who started the rumour.
It was reported on Monday that the actress and comedienne had split with long-time partner Carpenter.
The New York Post's gossip columnist Cindy Adams wrote: "Rosie O'Donnell and Kelli Carpenter, the handsome blond gal Rosie calls her wife, may not be so together anymore.
"Whatever other difficulties such a breakup might cause, there is also a houseful of adopted kids they're raising."
But O'Donnell has hit back at the claim, taunting Adams by saying she is "a lesbian but she doesn't know it yet", reports Fox News.
A spokesperson for O'Donnell joked: "She's going to leave Kelli for Cindy Adams."
O'Donnell, 46, and Carpenter, 41, wed in 2004, but the marriage was nullified by a Californian court.
They have adopted children Parker, 13; Chelsea, 11; and Blake, eight, and biological daughter Vivienne Rose, five.
