Flashpoint: Fans Can Relax; CBS Renews Cop Show for Season Three

Faithful Flashpoint viewers can finally breath easy. CBS has renewed the cop drama for a third season.

Following the work of a group of highly trained police officers called Strategic Response Unit (Sru), the show stars Enrico Colantoni, David Paetkau, Hugh Dillon, Sergio Di Zio, Michael Cram, Mark Taylor, Ruth Marshall, and Amy Jo Johnson.

A Canada-based series, Flashpoint was initially produced for the CTV network. CBS picked up the rights to air the first season of episodes, in part to bank programming during the writers strike. It ended up being a ratings success for the network when it began airing in July 2008.

Both CTV and CBS renewed the series for a second year and those episodes began airing in February 2009. Nine additional installments were ordered with the plan to start running them in July. CBS changed »

CBS handed a renewal order to the police drama Flashpoint for 13 new episodes slated to air later this season. Flashpoint was originally an import from Canada and developed by CTV and Toronto-based Pink Sky Entertainment. The series was produced in collaboration by Pink Sky, Avamar Entertainment in association with CBS Television Studios and CTV. Flashpoint, airing in both the Us and Canada, stars Hugh Dillon, Enrico Colantoni, Amy Jo Johnson and David Paetkau as a group of police officers working in the Strategic Response Unit.

'Flashpoint' Set to Spark on DVD and Blu-ray

Flashpoint, one of the few Canadian shows to achieve certified hit status in the United States, is scheduled to debut on DVD in the Us and DVD and Blu-ray in Canada on October 13. The full specs for the Blu-ray edition have now been released and we have them for you.

The set will include all 13 episodes of Season One of the Toronto-shot show, as well as three special features: Behind the Scenes of Flashpoint, Director's Commentary on the Pilot Episode and a featurette called 'The Human Cost of Heroism'. These the same special features as are on the Us DVD release.

Flashpoint focuses on the personal and professional lives of members of an elite police tactical team, the Strategic Response Unit (Sru). Geminis Recognize 'Flashpoint', 'Sanctuary', 'Being Erica'

The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television has released the nominations for the 24th Annual Gemini Awards. The awards recognizes the year's best in Canadian English-language programming. In deciding which shows should be in the running, the Academy has given a big thumbs-up to Flashpoint, Being Erica and the Syfy series Sanctuary. All three shows received multiple nominations for the prestigious awards.

Flashpoint is a police procedural centred on an elite group called the Strategic Response Unit. It was created by Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern and stars Enrico Colantoni, Amy Jo Johnson and Hugh Dillon. Flashpoint airs on CTV in Canada and CBS in the United States.
