Nic Cage acting all hopped up on drugs and stuttering his way through a story about pirate treasure and a missing spoon while showing off his shack/childhood castle? Nic Cage does that in his sleep, buddy, and he does it here, in this clip from Werner Herzog’s “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans”. The loony crime/drama co-stars Cage, Mendes, Val Kilmer, Fairuza Balk, Jennifer Coolidge, Brad Dourif, Michael Shannon, Shawn Hatosy, Xzibit, Denzel Whitaker, Shea Whigham, Irma P. Hall, and probably won’t be entertaining you in a theater near you anytime soon. Unfortunately for Kilmer, this looks like it’ll hit a couple of theaters in limited release before going directly to DVD and cable; but then again, Kilmer is probably used to that. Via Apple. »

Though NBC has axed Southland before its second season could premiere, the producers aren't giving up on it. They just need to find the drama a new home.
If you weren't watching last season, Southland revolves around a bunch of cops on the Lapd. Armed with their experience and firearms, they take on all manners of problems on the streets of Los Angeles. The series stars an ensemble of both new faces and TV veterans like Benjamin McKenzie, Kevin Alejandro, Arija Bareikis, Michael Cudlitz, Shawn Hatosy, Regina King, Michael McGrady, Tom Everett Scott, Emily Bergl, Patrick Fischler, Lex Medlin, C. Thomas Howell, Emily Swallow, Carla Jeffery, Lori Alan, and Roxana Brusso.
Southland made a decent debut last season but viewership cooled as the season progressed. NBC renewed it for a second season even though the programmers knew they didn't have an appropriate place for »

Yahoo have debuted the first trailer from Nicholas Cage’s new movie, ‘Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans’. The movie also stars Eva Mendes, Val Kilmer, Fairuza Balk, Jennifer Coolidge, Vondie Curtis Hall, Shawn Hatosy, Denzel Whitaker, Xzibit, Shea Wigham, Katie Chonacas, Brad Dourif and is a remake of Abel Ferrara’s ‘Bad Lieutenant’ made in 1992 which starred Harvey Keitel.
The name makes it sound terrible although the images I posted previously and this new trailer actually make it look pretty good. The problems may come with the fact that it has Mr. Nicolas ‘hit and miss’ Cage in it and we could be in for a bumpy ride!
‘Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans’ has no UK release date as yet.

The speed with which TV networks cancel new shows these days can make your head spin. If a show doesn't perform within one or two episodes, it just disappears from the schedule. They traditionally give a bit more time to renewed shows. That's not the case with Southland. It's been cancelled before its second season debut.
From executive producer John Wells, Southland follows a group of police officers on the tough streets of Los Angeles. Having debuted last April, the ensemble cast includes Benjamin McKenzie, Kevin Alejandro, Arija Bareikis, Michael Cudlitz, Shawn Hatosy, Regina King, Michael McGrady, and Tom Everett Scott.
The series began airing in the former timeslot of ER, another show that was executive produced by Wells. It initially looked like NBC had the makings of a hit with 9.86 million viewers and a 3.2/9 in the demo. Unfortunately, the numbers »

Below we have two new posters for Werner Herzog’s film “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans,” remake of sorts of Abel Ferrara’s infamous 1992 film, which originally starred Harvey Keitel.
Nicolas Cage plays a rogue detective who is as devoted to his job as he is at scoring drugs — while playing fast and loose with the law. He wields his badge as often as he wields his gun in order to get his way. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina he becomes a high-functioning addict who is a deeply intuitive, fearless detective reigning over the beautiful ruins of New Orleans with authority and abandon. Complicating his tumultuous life is the prostitute he loves (Eva Mendes). Together they descend into their own world marked by desire, compulsion, and conscience. The result is a singular masterpiece of filmmaking: equally sad and manically humorous.
The film also stars Val Kilmer as the cop’s partner, »

We've spent the better (hotter?) portion of the summer reviving our fascination with the concept of the Ultimate Hotties of the Year -- in subcategories like Comedy, Action/Thriller, Crime-Fighting, Geek, and Vampires (apparently they're popular). In 2007, readers voted Angelina Jolie and Wentworth Miller as prom king and queen; this year, Robert Pattinson led your Top 25. And since favoritism can be limiting, here are the 25 hotties you can't believe we missed. Now that '09's long, strange trip is over, some EW staffers decided -- in the spirit of "why the heck not?" -- to create our own lists of Things That Are Hot. Slezak and Mandi followed the rules and chose broadly but from within the parameters of the past year, while Dalton and Josh went the esoteric route of just naming random people and/or characters they've at one point found intriguing. Hey, whatever. They go around the »

33-year-old Shawn Hatosy has appeared in over thirty films, including this summer's "Public Enemies" with Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. But Hatosy earned his first major role on a prime-time television network drama with NBC's "Southland," the L.A. crime drama from the producers of "ER" which debuted in the Spring with a short 7-episode season.
The show opened to positive reviews but didn't wow in the ratings. For the first time, Hatosy was a part of the will-they-or-won't-they season pick-up game. "It's so new to me," Hatosy said. "First, doing a pilot which we had to wait and see if that would be picked up. Then shooting six episodes which was exciting and great. But then waiting and waiting to find out to get another season, it was pretty intense and nerve-wracking."
On "Southland," Hatosy plays Detective Sammy Bryant, a Los Angeles detective knee-deep in the city's gang activity. »

One change coming to Southland next season: it will air on Friday nights.
But one thing that won't change on the NBC police drama: it will continue to tackle real life issues.
For example, we already know that officer John Cooper's sexuality will be explored in depth during season two.
Now, Shawn Hatosy - who portrays Detective Sammy Bryant - has provided the following Southland preview when asked about the series by E! News:
"It's kind of picking up where we left off. It still has the honest approach at this world. My wife and I are still not getting along so great. It seems like we're heading toward something big this season. I can tell where the scripts are going by the training they give us.
"All I'll say is they brought in a gang detective who was a D3, the highest rank, detective three, like a supervisor of gangs. »

“Nobel Son” is a film about a weathered relationship between a genius father and his overshadowed son. It’s also a film about kidnapping, adultery, lust, extortion, poetry, cannibalism, revenge, amputations, and just about anything else dramatic. Alan Rickman (Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Sweeney Todd) plays Eli Michaelson, a philandering, arrogant physics professor who just won the Nobel Prize. His son Barkley (Bride Wars) has yet to gain his approval for anything, including his Phd work on cannibalism. On the eve of the Nobel Ceremony, Barkley is kidnapped and held for a two million dollar ransom. His father, thinking it’s a joke, yells at Barkley and refuses to pay the kidnapper. The circumstances change when he receives a severed thumb in the mail. A great cast supports Rickman and Greenburgh, including: Shawn Hatosy, Mary Steenburgen, Bill Pullman, and Eliza Dushku. Danny Devito also has a ... »
