Dead of Night, the supernatural thriller based on the best-selling horror comic-book series, Dylan Dog has completed principal photography, Hyde Park Entertainment Group and Platinum Studios announced yesterday.
The Kevin Munroe directed picture stars Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) as reluctant paranormal investigator Dylan Dog, who finds himself caught in the middle of a war between the demonic undead. Sam Huntington co-stars as Routh’s wise-cracking sidekick Marcus. On the subject of Routh as the iconic Dylan Dog, director Kevin Munroe was all praise:
“Dylan Dog is a character that brilliantly mixes charisma, affability, and hard-driven principles. I couldn’t be happier with Brandon’s portrayal - he meshed all of those aspects into a charming action hero, funny as he was ass-kicking. I can’t wait to share his work with the world.”
The film also stars Anita Briem (Journey to the Center of the Earth) as Elizabeth, Taye Diggs

After triumphing for two years in a row, Jake Gyllenhaal is not the winner of our third annual AfterElton.com Hot 100 poll (see the results for 2007 here and 2008 here). So which out man did take the top spot? If you’re the kind of person who always burns their mouth biting into that piping hot chocolate chip cookie, you can just cheat and go here to learn who came in first place.
Here at AfterElton.com, we’re thrilled to announce an out gay man topped this year’s list – especially this particular man as most of us voted for him as well. In fact, out gay men snagged nearly 20% of the spots, including the top three. While African-American men only nabbed 4% of the slots on the Hot 100 list, they pretty much ruled the roost when it came to this category. Indeed, it was nearly a Top 10 sweep with only Wilson Cruz and Mario López sneaking in at the end. As for Asians, B.D. Wong landed at #14 and Daniel Dae Kim came in at #18 while Sendhil Ramamurthy pretty much carried the torch for Indian representation by placing #12. The next highest-ranking man of Indian descent was British native Dev Patel, who made quite an impact in Slumdog Millionaire (2008). Alas, the success of that movie only propelled Dev to #28.
After Cruz and López, the next highest ranking men of Hispanic descent were Gael García Bernal and Guillermo Díaz at #s 20 and 21, respectively. Pop singer Ricky Martin clocked in at #26 followed by soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo at #40.
With any luck, the election of Barack Obama will remind all of us

Dead Of Night is the follow-up Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) has majorly been needing. Even though he has seven other projects in production, I have only seen him in Zack and Miri Make a Porno since wearing the red S. In Dead Of Night, Routh plays supernatural detective Dylan Dog, based on the Tiziani Sclavi horror comic series of the same name. Sam Huntington will play the role of Dylan Dog's zombie side-kick Marcus. The rest of the cast includes Taye Diggs, Peter Stormare, Anita Briem and Kurt Angle. Kevin Munroe, writer/director of Tmnt, is directing[...]

Brandon Routh's follow-up breakthrough after Superman Returns has been a long time coming, but from the looks of these first pictures from Dead Of Night, wherein Routh plays supernatural detective Dylan Dog, this could be it.The story's based on the horror comics by Tiziani Sclavi, named after Dylan Dog. He's a sort of "nightmare investigator", whose job takes him into contact with ghouls and ghosts and monsters in general. Sam Huntingdon plays his zombie sidekick Marcus, and a first picture of him was also posted today on Movieweb.Click the image to view larger version on shocktillyoudrop.comAlso starring in the film are Taye Diggs, Peter Stormare, Anita Briem and Kurt Angle. Kevin Munroe, of Tmnt, is directing, with the film currently shooting in New Orleans. Fingers crossed that this finally allows Routh, a thoroughly nice man, to escape the curse of Superman.

Kevin Munroe's Dead of Night is going to be a film brimming with beasties. Vamps. Zombies. Werewolves. Falling into that last category, there are two new additions to the cast. IESB reports Peter Stormare ( Constantine , Fargo ) and wrestler/Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle will be playing lycanthropes. Both are unique choices. On one hand you've got creepy, the other you've got brawn. Can't wait to see how Drac Studios transforms these two. For their identities in the film, click here . Dead of Night , based on the Italian comic book "Dyland Dog," continues to shoot in New Orleans. Brandon Routh, Sam Huntington, Taye Diggs and Anita Briem star.
